PPI failure

  • The Bank told you a year ago that you never paid PPI

No, they told me 'Having searched the HSBC records, I cannot find any evidence of that PPI was attached to the above product.

They did not say 'this product had no PPI attached'. If they did then I would leave it.
They then went on to say 'Due to the data protection act, HSBC cannot keep records indefinatley therefore if your PPI commenced over 6 years ago, any records may have been destroyed.

So I read this as they cant prove PPI was not attached to the product.
Of course, I have no statements or evidence either.

So nobody knows...this is the final conclusion?? a stalemate?
If indeed the FCA have made it clear to the banks that they need go over sales of PPI, should HSBC make it clearer to me?

    Yes.

They have made it clear to you. They have no evidence you have ever had it but will consider a complaint if you you find evidence to show it was. You say you have none. So thats it.

Remember that there is nothing wrong with having PPI. It is the way it was sold that matters. So, you are not even failing at the complaint stage. You are failing before that by not even knowing if you had it.

  • I have all the documents including bank statements and letters from NBS. They say I agreed to the PPI on the loan, I know I was never asked in the branch.

Not sure if you are asking a question or making a statement. However, the fact you paid PPI is not the issue. Plenty of PPI was sold correctly and was suitable. The issue is whether it was sold incorrectly.

It was "game over" a year ago when this thread was started. If the Op wants "proof" that the Bank have no record of PPI, he should send HSBC a SAR letter as suggested a year ago and also the other day.

Of course, this will doubtless be a waste of £10.

Now I really am taking my leave of this thread.

I have not sent them a SAR. Maybe I should.
what a genius idea, then you can end your year long post and stop speculating over the unknown.

How exactly can HSBC go over the sale of a PPI policy if there is no evidence it ever existed?

HSBC have given me an account number and a sort code for the loan in question.

If you mean by 'it' as the PPI policy, I was hoping that account info would reveal the details of the loan?

    Give it up.
All you have is the account number of a loan with no PPI attached.

Why are you continuing to post about this? If you don't send them a SAR, you'll never have closure. Is it the cost that puts you off? Or are you just determined to continue a futile "quest" on this internet message board?
