I don't know if this is the right section to post, but I would request an additional forum guide to the above forum because of the contents of the thread below

Can you consider Coupon Mad as a guide as she is a very well respected and considerate poster there, and is actually an active member. I'm sorry to say that I hardly ever see other guides there so I can't see the logic of having inactive guides in this section.

Hi Stroma
We've had quite a few newbies on the board recently, presumably as a result of Private Parking Tickets being featured near the top of last week's tips email.
I look at the Parking Fines board more regularly than other boards but it simply isn't possible to read every thread to see whether it's been bumped by a newbie or is just another discussion.
It would be very helpful if board regulars could send me or savvy/lorweld a PM when they see a post that needs to be split into a new thread. We're more than happy to do so (this is why we're here).0 -
I appreciate that crabman, but surely having someone who posts and contributes to the sub forum would be a logical choice. I moderate on another forum where the users actually choose most of the guys who do similar things you do.
By the time someone sends a message then gets a reply and something sorted could take hours, I am not saying people should dedicate life here as we all have a life outside of the virtual world. Just that it would be helpful and will IMO make the section run a bit smoother.
I don't mean to step on toes here, but I've only seen you post or do anything on the forum, I am sorry but the others seem to be anonymous to be honest and don't appear to do anything there. Maybe they are looking after to many boards ?When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.

I've said on the other thread that I feel CM would be a great BG but I'm sure you're aware that MSE makes those decisions as they run the site. We're just volunteers who help out in our spare time. We have nothing whatsoever to do with site admin.
When a post is split to a new thread, I generally send the member concerned a private message with a link to the new thread, instead of posting a notification on the thread.
This is because newbies don't always know how to track their posts (thread subscriptions are switched off by default & not everyone has used a message board before) so it makes more sense to send them a PM with a link rather than post on a thread that they don't know exists. A side effect of this is that you won't necessarily be aware that the new thread was split out in the first place.0 -
It's a shame that no feedback has been given on this. I thought a forum was the sum of the people posting on there, getting respected users to help as a guide would be something that users could give their opinion onWhen posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. Personally having read coupon mad's own admission that she leaves sarky notes on cars that 'don't belong' in her street I wouldn't like to see her become a Board Guide.0
