Go back to the stall, at a busy time. Point out the problem, then ask for refund, if your refused, point out the problem a bit louder, so the other potential customers hear you. I doubt the trader will want potential customers knowing that unless your walking round with a foreign currency then the wallets not fully functional.
and watch while the trader laughs in your face. Thats a ridiculous thing to suggest.
As previously pointed out, there's nothing wrong with the wallet. OP should have checked when it was being purchased.
I've seen wallets like this in department stores so they are not uncommonThe Daily Mail

The best "moneysaving" wallet is simply a red rubber band dropped by the postman, this adjusts to fit almost any pocket sized wad of cash, saved with helpful tips from the lovely people on this web site no doubt
But where would a person keep their debit, credit, library cards, picture of the kids, wife, mistress and so on?0 -

And if I'm the other customer I'll usually start laughing at the shouting one. That never works, people will just think it's an idiot and the trader will know this as well.0 -

indeed.
As an example I was in Primark the other day and overheard some guy arguing with the cashier about some clothing which was incorrectly priced. The guy demanded to speak to the manager. His argument was so stupid and pointless he ended up looking like a right doofus. I bet he thought he was being really clever too.0 -

I've got to admit this would have been the obvious solution to me! I got a decent leather one on Ebay last year for about £5 brand new including postage, still find now. Went through Topcashback as well just to get that little bit more off.0 -
Just ask the stall holder if they will exchange it for one that holds bigger notes. No harm in asking.Dont rock the boat
