I've been critical of them for a while as imo they aren't really much different to the Big 6. The use of cash incentives for new sign ups that they have often indulged in is imo not really what a Co-op should do. Plus they originally promised never to introduce a fixed tariff/lock ins but went ahead all the same.0

I just worked I am not really worse or better off on Co-op from the standard EON tariff. Energy helpline which has the new co-op tariff programmed in tells me I am saving £0.00 which means with the £30 cashback for the first year with a ~ £1000 dual fuel spend I have saved 3% which works out about the same if I was on the EON 3% discounted deal. If I stay for the dividend then I might be slightly better off.
This is kind of what I was thinking for myself as well, that you make all these changes and in the end you don't really make savings big enough to be worth switching and in fact might lose out in other ways e.g. poorer customer service.
I held back on switching to co-op as I expected a price increase, I haven't done a new comparison yet but I think that they'll be a lot closer to what I'm currently paying with BG now.0 -
Surely, by definition, almost, the Co-op will never offer a cheapest tariff? The very fact that other companies still have multiple tariffs means someone else will always be cheaper. When buying from the Co-op the price is not the primary criterion.0

And your evidence for that is??? What is the cruelty? They wait until the end (mostly) of winter. They still charge a single price (give or take a week or two). What co-op value are they contradicting?
Well, not only did Coop Energy fail to switch my gas supply, it still took the money by direct debit for the gas it hadn't supplied.0
