Cat - Emergency Vet

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere but needing some guidance.
My cat has been hit by a car (driver never stopped but people are morons of course but thats a different thread) and his leg is broken in two places, as well as some other injuries.
The emergency vet has given us an estimate to date of £249, plus there will be a lot more to come if we decide to pin the leg and treat it, of course.
We let the pet insurance lapse as we are bloody stupid, plus about to be bankrupt and our house repossesed - we are having a great time(!)
Anyone know if any help is available to us and our little pal?

Where in UK are you?
If anywhere near london, look up Celia Hammond charity - their vets charge fraction of the cost of regular vets.0 -
Thanks, in Fife, Scotland, I'm afraid.

You could try PDSA though I think you have to be on certain benefits in order to qualify for help.0

Amputation. He is in a lot of pain.0 -
Sorry to hear that, hopefully he is at the vets and being medicated for pain?
I can not advise, you are too far away.
Hope all ends up well for the poor cat - but to amputate a leg that can be fixed...

PDSA, RSPCA do vet clinics the one near us charges a 1/3rd of normal costs not sure if you'd be eligible or if there is a similar scheme near you but might be worth a call. Have you spoken to your vet about a payment plan?0
-
If you use a regular vet they may be sympathetic and offer a payment plan.0

As with the aboves - PDSA.
You can also try just calling local pet charities and seeing what they can do to help.House saving Targets:
£17,700 / £20,0000 -
