Would be a good little buy i think. :money:
Can't argue at under a £5. Could always sell them on ebay after if you didnt want them.

None in stock at Aylesbury, High Wycombe or Milton Keynes though.

Any advice on the next step I can take, or do I just write this morning off as a bad experience??

Write of the morning I think, you would probably have been better off getting a cheap one form argos or tesco when you take the petrol / wasted time into account.

The PCWorld collect at store only allows you to get the price that is shown on the web, not reserve the product. As these are general prices (not web only) I don't bother with collect at store as it will only highlight deals to staff when the printouts come through. And it is possible that staff can take the stock and just tell you its out of stock. It's better to go in an look for it yourself, as probably the price on the shelf will be wrong and it will scan cheap.

I have found this many times with the 97p PS2 games, they are nearly always priced up high and the staff are surprised when they scan at 97p. If I had collect at store'd I bet they wouldn't have been there when I got there!

This is typical PC World/Dixons/Currys practise. How many times have 97p games been posted when there are, in reality, none in stock? I have twice reserved things at Currys, only to be rung up and told there are none available (at least they did ring). Either the stock control system is very poor or shop staff are reserving them as soon as they become aware of the bargain. Seoras is right - the only way to get these 'bargains' is to go to the shop and root them out.

Picked mine up earlier....sort of :)

I'd ordered one of the £2.97 phones for collect at store. When I got there it had not been picked and one of the sales assistants went to have a look in the warehouse. After 5 to 10 minutes he came back with 6 of them (as someone on the HUKD had ordered 3 for collection and they hadn't picked that one yet either) - he then wanted to know if I wanted the other 2 :)

    However......

He also said that he had some of the twin packs there as well. I asked for the price of those, confirmed they were £4.97 and so got two of those instead (leaving my original collect at store order there for anyone else who wanted it).

    Four phones for £9.94 - mustn't complain. :)
They promised the earth...and delivered mud. Technically though it did meet the spec.

I managed to collect 2 from my local store today with out any fuss!
They only had the 100 model but that's all that was showing in stock on the website. Assistant was really nice and said they had had trouble locating it when it came through that morning because they were no longer on the shelf, This seemed quite genuine and sure enough within 5 minutes (they had received a delivery 0f 11 pallets of stock since and my order was behind it) I was the proud owner of 2 sparkling new phones for £5.94.
10 out of 10 for my store!

    kind regards

They may be cheap, but are they any good? How is the sound quality, is this a really good buy, thinking as a present for a friend?

I have had these phones for a couple of years now, they are good quality. The coverage is perfect thoughout my house and into the garden. Great price as well, very good buy IMO....
