RSPCA phone calls

I support the RSPCA with a small amount per month. I just had a phone call basicly asking for more money. I politley said that I will increase an amount in my own time but again, the caller although polite was quite pushy and asking for a pound extra a month. Although this wouldn't be a problem for me I on principle didn't give in because I am not happy with being pushed into something via the phone.
When you are good enough to give to a charity I always find they keep at you for more and more. I will probably increase my amount as it is the animals who need help which I am 100% behind but I don't like being put on the spot on the phone. Nor do I like to be send upsetting images of abused animals at Christmas.

Consider moving your donation to an organisation that do not destroy healthy animals.
I could not live with the guilt that money I was donating was been used to administer death drugs to a healthy animal.
I would rather they turned them out on the streets first.
Many charities that do not kill animals that are healthy will be glad of your donation.Be happy...;)0 -
Perhaps if they spent less money pursuing politically motivated prosecutions, they wouldn't need to start begging for more funds??"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

I thought the whole point of the RSPCA was animal welfare. Why would they destroy animals , have you proof ?0

It is a well known fact. Whent hey are full animals are pts to make more room. We lost our elderly cat for 3 hours, somebody had seen her and as she was very small thought she was lost kitten, she was in fact 19. They took her to the rspca and when we found out we went straight there. She was in a cage at the back of the building and was about to be pts as they had realised she was an old cat. So within 4 hours she would have been dead. RSPCA large branches, have got a very bad reputation now, Consider moving your donation to a smaller branch which relies on donations.0 -
I realise the RSPCA do put animals down. However I would be surprised if they do it 4 hours after an animal is handed in!This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Some of their staff are known to be very proactive in finding medical conditions to justify killing an animal.0

I've had similar calls from other organisations and I politely explained to them that I don't respond to telemarketing so it is a waste of their time calling me and should they call again I would find another charity to benefit from my donations.
As far as the disturbing images they send out go - I'd write to their head office and tell them you don't like receiving such things and ask that they not be sent in future. If enough people do this (and threaten to stop their donations) they will listen and stop these practices.Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
some of the above comments- load of nonsense.
You would rather see animals loose on the street? Very impractical and then think of the dog poo!
Unfortunately there is a lack of space in shelters, some pets have to be pts. I love the Dogs Trust in not putting healthy animals down but by doing so they turn away more dogs, thus they get pts by other organisations.0 -

Please elaborate? What exactly do you think the RSPCA does?0 -

They may not be the best organisation in the world and I am not defending them.
However, most uk shelters put healthy animals down. It is definitely not just the RSPCA but they seem to get all the backlash for it.
It's a result of too many animals and not enough homes. It is not -their- fault.0
