Hi all,
Second time I've asked for help with the same item!
My buyer sent me this after the auction finished:
The buyer is from zachodniopomorskie, Poland and has a few bits of intermittent positive feedback. Is this a scam or Ok?

Probably OK, the Poles are arriving in droves. If it was under say £30-£50 I would probably send, but you have to do what you are comfortable with.
I still believe most folk are honest.0 -
What are you selling, How are they paying, whats there feedback like, how long they been a member. These are a few questions I would be asking myself.
If its a mobile phone I would personally run a mileIf I have been helpful - Hit the Thanks button0 -
The item was a camera, sold for £50, payment via Paypal. Not much feedback, but then, neither do I (In fact I have none as a seller).
Hintza, thats what made me hesitate: The poles have big communities here now and Dundee is supported by the University - perhaps the buyer is getting a present for their daughter?
I see both of you are in Scotland, either of you fancy popping over to Dundee and checking out the address for me?

To protect yourself against any scam - refund the PayPal payment and request payment by bank transfer.
As in most of the Eurozone, customers in Poland can send you a international bank transfer for free which will usually cost you nothing* to receive on the UK end. (See EU/EEA directive 2560/2001 or ask your bank for details.) Note that the transfer must be in Euros (so convert the £ total), using your BIC + IBAN details (on your UK bank statements) with Shared costs selected. Most such transfers take between a few hours to several business days to be credited to your UK bank account.
However unlike PayPal there is zero risk to sellers, so you can ship by a cheaper shipping method than the expensive Track-n-trace required for even marginal PayPal Seller Protection against the common 'item not received' or 'fraudulent funds' disputes.
* NatWest/RBS charge a £1 fee for a notification letter (which you can opt out of)."Money is truthful. If a person speaks of their honour, make sure they pay in cash."0 -
Can we assume that when you check the payment in paypal it is showing as ineligible for seller protection? If so then I would refund the payment and ask them to either get verified and confirmed or pay another way.0

Hi,
My family live in Poland, I was born here in the UK and speak Polish.
Just to let you know that the area of Poland is genuine, if that is your concern. You may of heard of Szczecin or Stettin which is part of that "county" on the German border and the Baltic sea to the north.
hope that helps you.
Does that help0 -

Great to have you around Digerati, you're very knowledgeable and at least I'm not the only one banging on about making bank transfers in euros now!My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
Why not send it by Special Delivery and risk the few extra pounds spent? Surely this would cover you?0

If the address is not confirmed with paypal you do not have seller protection with paypal no matter how securely you post it.0
