New mobile options with Orange

Looking at a new mobile - I am currently on a SIM only rolling monthly contract with Orange. Want calls, text & data.
Been with Orange for approx 20 years & would look to stay with Orange (although OK to move)
Also want to retain my mobile number - that I have had for 20 years ...
Looking at iPhone 5 but offer on Orange home page are not as generousas those through 3 parties (Dialafone, P4U, etc) - happy to call Orange & ask for them to match but if they say no ... want to understand my options ?
If I go through a third party & sign with Orange - can I retain my current mobile number ? - sounds like the third parties leave it to you?
Unclear on the PAC code process - assume this works across providers but what if I stay with Orange but source phone through 3rd party deal ...
Help please .... any Orange insiders ...

If you are to take a "new" contract with Orange, then no, but there is a way round this. you will need to port your number to another network (using a PAYG sim), then port it back again to Orange. Not sure if you can do this immediately tho, or there is a minimum time frame that you must be on the other network before they will port your number back.
BUT if you "upgrade" through phones 4u or CPH then you can usually get a good deal and keep your number. Not sure if the "upgrade" option applies to moving from a sim only plan tho, you'd need to check.....milton19700 wrote: »Unclear on the PAC code process - assume this works across providers but what if I stay with Orange but source phone through 3rd party deal ...
You request a PAC code from Orange. Then order your new deal from another provider. Once this is up and running, phone them with the PAC code that Orange gave you. They will give you a date in the near future (mine was the next day) where you swithc both phones off during a set time frame. When you switch them both back on, the orange line will be no more and the number will be transferred to your new provider.0 -
Thanks 19Lottie82 .. but thankfully Orange gave me a deal - & a slightly better deal than I could get on TP sites.
Know that they will be still making money from me but hey ... no pockets in shrouds!0
