I wish I had good advice to give you. My DS has Aspergers and has started his GCSEs. He also had other challenges and we pay through the nose to have him taught in a small school that copes well with him. We went the GP route but never got him statemented (we live in a borough where they notoriously make it difficult).

There's a thread about a test to identify aspergers traits (it's an online one that won't stand up in court IYKWIM). Many of the posters have Aspergers themselves or their children have it and have gone further in dealing with it better than we're doing.

Dipdap Im only just catching up on this mornings posts. I wish I had some useful advice to offer you. My son has quite severe autism, so his problems were picked up pretty early on...pre school, in fact. Although the diagnosis was a few years later. So Ive not been in your situation, but I can totally understand your frustration and how worried you are :(

Getting a statement or the right sort of funding/ help can be a long and soul destroying process. I could fill the page with how difficult I found it all and what a nightmare it's been at times. Ive been lucky in that my sons school were very supportive. My problems were with the LEA and basically came down to money/funding. The best advice I can give you is not to give up. In the beginning I went to my GP and asked for a referral to the school doctor. This started the ball rolling as she then referred us to the educational psychologist, paediatrician and occupational therapy etc. I appreciate though that time isn't on your sons side to go through such a long process :(

    not much help sorry :(

Thankyou so much, I've bookmarked that link for a read over later when DS and DH are home.
We've had the 'we're reluctant to give your DS a label' comment a few times which is when we get fobbed off time and time again.
We did look into private education a few times but don't have any money to fund it, it's got to the point now where i'm debating taking him out of mainstream if the problems continue and teaching him at home myself (between me and DH I think we have enough passable GCSE grades to cover it ourselves :D )

Dipdap - I really do feel for you and your DS. Two of my children have Dyslexia and I am a teacher in a Special school. However, getting them tested and dignosed was a long and mysterious process even for someone working in the system! DD was not tested until FE college. (They have access to funds which schools don't). She is now at Uni and has lots of IT equipment and tutorial support and extra time in exams etc. DS is now statemented for Dyslexia as he was identified by a Special Needs Adviser in Primary school. It has all been more luck than judgement! They both have Autistic traits and we try to develop strategies to help them cope. Lists, routines, processing time etc!

Could you ask the SENCO to arrange for the Educational Psychologist to come and observe him at school? Put it in writing and CC it to the Head, LEA etc. We find Autism West Midlands very good for advice at my school.

Sorry Guys! No bargains here. Count me into the HC Appeal Campain though! :)

    Thankyou both.
I rang the parent partnership people this morning and left a message for them to ring me back (says it can take 2 working days)
My Son was on the SEN radar when he was younger as he had speech therapy from age 4 thru till about 6 or 7 (not sure when) then he seemed to just slip through the net and off their radar and that's where we've been fighting to get him back on ever since.
I think you guys and this thread have been a kick up the bum I need and this time i'm not taking no for an answer.
Thankyou so much for all the helpful comments, I'm determined to shout as loud as I can this time to get someone to listen and I won't stop until they do. I'm giving myself until Easter to see where i get to :D

In your opinion guys, which one is better: Quidco or Topcashback? I am currently with Quidco, but I am thinking of stopping. They charge a £5 fee each year. I have heard Topcashback don't charge anything. Is that correct? Which one do you guys prefer?

Thats better some fighting talk :D......Im sure they have a pic of me at LEA HQ to throw darts at :rotfl::rotfl: I was their worst nightmare for a long time :o.....but it worked, they don't say no anymore. And I care not a jot what they think of me as long as my son has a fighting chance of as good education as everyone else.
