I already covered this in my earlier post. Bute was not found but in trace amts far too low to cause any problems. And I doubt it is being used by the Romanians who aren't know for their welfare standards,
"Tesco are the UK's biggest supermarket. It has to be their fault. If it wasnt for them searching for the cheapest way to sell meat then they wouldnt have to import cheap. Why have all these measures and precautions over UK meat when we ship in from other countries that dont have the same measures."
I dispute this, as Tesco bought Beef from an Irish supplier assuming ti was irish beef- it wasn't. I fully expect for there to be consequences for them, but feel the fault goes to those who hid the source and species of the meat. Which wasn't tesco. Tesco gives us what we want, cheap food. It is you, the consumer's fault for this reliance on cheap food. The only beef I have bought in the last ten years has been from locally sourced farms or mince, steak and burgers from Marks and Spencer-all 100% british Aberdeen angus.
"If anything good has come of all this is its raised public awareness and people will support local traditional butchers".
the last bit i agree with you about.0 -
Does it matter? Well, it may not matter to some people, but it matters to me.
Quite apart from any other consideration, shouldn't we have the right to know what we're eating? If we think we're buying beef then it should be beef. If I wanted to eat horsemeat I could go to France and eat it. I don't.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

This thread, despite its title, was not started to discuss horse meat or beef.
Which makes it amusing that it has continued. Personally I would prefer to discuss beef than rehash the debate on IFAs yet again.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
i'm not sure we've got the right analogy here ...
are (fund) supermarkets responsible for selling products that aren't what you thought you were getting? what if they get kickbacks from the provider to put their products at eye height (or their best buy list)?0 -

Well if they sell you a fund named "High Growth" or "Capital Plus" which then loses you money.....
Maybe under Trades Descriptions all funds should have names like "Keep just below the index if we're lucky", "Medium Risk punt" or "Make a bomb or lose half".0
