I don't think my solicitor has heard from the vendor's solicitor yet as they said when they did and also received my mortgage offer (do they get a copy sent directly to them or do I have to tell them?) they would call me in to sign paperwork.
Would it be possible to hold off telling the vendor's EA for a few days to see if a new buyer arises?
From my experience solicitors don't really get involved until price, surveys etc are sorted. If your buyer has pulled out its probably your responsbility or your Estate agents to let solicitor know and they will put things on hold until you can proceed again. I don't think it could do any harm to hold off telling the vendor's EA for a couple of days if you are confident you could get another buyer. Also the mortgage company should automatically send a copy of your offer to your solicitor. Hope that helps.I wished the buck stopped here as I could use a few!0 -

My estate agent has had phone calls from the vendor's estate agent asking why they still haven't had details of our house sale yet.
He has put them off twice, making them now wait until Monday.
I am concerned the vendor's will find out about this and think we are messing them about.
It might be wise to come clean. Losing a buyer happens all the time in house selling (as I am fast learning!) and if you are honest with them you may have the opportunity to persuade them to give you a few days grace to find another buyer before they put it back on the market. If they realise you have been stringing them along it will only make them distrustful of you and might make you lose the house altogether.I wished the buck stopped here as I could use a few!0 -

The latest news..
After that, what steps are next?
My solicitor sends my contract and fixtures/fitting and boundary forms to the buyer's solicitor.
Buyer's solicitor does searches.
My solicitor receives the same from the seller's solicitor.
My solicitor receives my search results.
No other chain so what would need to happen next.
Your chain is similar to ours (I think!), we have sold to FTB and the vendor of the house we are buying is moving in with her partner. From what I can see you've covered everything above.
We paid for our survey on the Monday (made offer on Saturday) and the survey was carried out on the Thursday morning - that was with Alliance and Leicester. Our solicitor did not want to order the searches for our purchase until our survey was back and we were happy with it. We finally received last of the searches this morning and we waited 4 weeks exactly. (Once the searches are back there might be queries to deal with.) I can't think of anything else but try this link which explains the buying and selling process it might be of some help.
