empiting out the can oil filter for recyclin

Had to chuckle about garages making a profit from old oil. It is classed as hazardous waste and you can't transport it (even in a closed garage truck) to an approved recycling centre without having the licences to do that. Instead like most decent places you build proper storage with a bund and have it uplifted by an approved carrier - the income doesn't cover the wasted space. There would be an income if you could sell a larger amount to the approved carrier, but guess what, if you store more than 3000 litres on your premises, you need a licence for that too.
Added to all of that, and the one that most punters think that happens, the garage space heater, which was bought because of its ability to cleanly burn off this waste at high temperature now needs a £65/year licence too!0
