I did an oil change recently and took the waste oil to a council recycling facility.
They had a massive reservoir to collect old oil - I guess they make money from them. Amazing how garages charge you for "environmental disposal" for oil when they proft from it.
Anyway, they ddin't have a oil filter recycling facility - what are my option? Any other places that will take it. I'm surprised ECP doesnt have a facility to drop off oil filters.
If I could empty out the oil filter I could recycle it as metals. But as it has oil in it; It was recycled as general waste.

They might make a little money from it but in no way will it cover the storage and licencing requirements that are all part of recycling hazardous waste now.0

You guess the recycling centre makes money, suggests you dont know.
Then you say the garage profit from it.
I dont know which is right,0 -
Chuck it in the bin.0

Dunk the filter in some engine flush, agitate until clean, empty the engine flush into your oil can, then into the oil recycle.
Filter then goes in metals.0 -
what makes oil filters "expire" From what I saw they're just a can with holes in which clogs large bits in place.Surely they can be reused if done right? Bowing pressure the oppsite way to push the bits back out and reuse?0

The pressure you're blowing would go through the unblocked parts of the filter (path of least resistance) leaving the blocked parts still blocked.0 -

You could just stick something like a big screwdriver through it to let the rest of the oil out
But I suspect it would still be counted as general waste0 -
You will spend 4 x more than a new filter costs trying to clean it out.
Oil filters are cheap..Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Oil filters are cheap..
Just annoying that the councils waste service isn't investing enough on it - sending good metals and hazardous chemicals into landfill.0 -
Matter is neither created nor destroyed.0
