Broadband speed

Hi all

I recently moved from Sky to a new BB provider.

I have noticed the speed is not what it once was. I have been discussing it via email with my provider. They cc'd me on a email I dont think I was supposed to see as it says "internal" but it said :

bRAS profile stuck at 2000, will reset to speed up change.
Upstream Downstream
Loop Loss: 6.5 13
SNR Margin: 24 13
Errored Seconds: 0 0
HEC Errors: 0 0
Speed: 448 8128
Profile Rate: 2000
Test File Size: 4741205
File Transfer Average Throughput/Session: 1930

Can anyone tell me what a Bras profile is, can my BB change it and what I can I do to speed it up?

How about no longer being masochistic?
How about remembering your divinity?
How about unabashedly bawling your eyes out?
How about not equating death with stopping?

Over the period of a couple of weeks your modem syncs with the exchange and they work out the fastest stable speed for your line.
An unstable or poor line gets a lower BRAS limit.
Looks like they will allow it to renegotiate a new level.

It's very probable you have what's called a stuck BRAS profile. It happens occasionally on new services where it sticks at 2000 (2000 is the default profile the software sets when a line is first activated). Speak to your ISP, they'll give you some bull about 10 day period which isn't true but they'll not do anything until the 10 days is over. They need to initiate, or get BT Wholesale to initiate an SNR reset. That'll solve the problem almost immediately.
