No you can't. The fees/charges are made available for you to see either in the T&C's or other literature given to you about your account and its usage.

But Credit card chargers are listed in T&c's and other literature given to you about your account also ppi charges where listed there so what is the diff between them and claiming bank charges for use of card abroad ???

Because the charge can be justified (ie the processing costs involved). Just like credit card charges < £35 and bank charges can be justified and thus complaints are rarely upheld.

i was just asking and could not understand why you can claim for one charge i e going into your over draft / bounceing cheques etc and not another ie charges when abroud. I am not claiming just noted on past statements when i lived abroad i had quite a lot of charges.
if you could i think i would claim to be honnest .

    well put it this way
is it free to change currency before you go?
    Is that unfair?

well actually they dont charge £5 plus % of transaction like bank did so how can the bank justify that is a fair charge when you dont have to pay that much prior to going away ?????

i can see where your coming from with the exchange charge. so i take it you think its fair to be charged twice if useing your card abroud ??

so how much do they charge per transaction for handing notes over?
I think its fair to be charged exactly what is laid out
I mean, everybody checks what it costs before they...dont they?

    Which bank?

They don't have to justify anything to you. That's the price of the service they offer...take it or leave it.

You don't walk up to the Sainsburys customer service desk with a tin of beans in your hand and say "these beans are 12p cheaper at Asda" do you? Why is this any different?

If you're not happy with £1.50 plus 2.75% (eg at Halifax), then open a bank account elsewhere. Or change your money here before you go (and pay more!).

the account i had at the time charged £5 per transaction plus a % of that transaction

so do you think its fair for people to be charged for going into their over draught due to not having enough money in their accounts then claim it all back when its laid out in the terms?
as you say every one checks their terms dont they??

At the time i didnt know the charges and didnt have any option but to use the card due to living abroad. so no I didnt know the costs until it was too late plus when your 17/18 you dont tend to worry about things like that well i know i didnt

call me a fool call me an idiot or what you like but i am only askin a general question why you can claim for one thing but not the other

by the looks of it its ok to claim for a charge imposed by the bank for not having enough money in your accout (which may i say i have never been that bad not to be in a position not to pay my bills ) but you cant claim for a charge imposed by a bank for using your card overseas .

it seems like one rule for one charge and diff rule for another.
