Hi folks
I have a 2.5 year old golden lab (!!!!!)
She is still very "bouncy", like a puppy, constantly jumping up on you, and totally running riot when she's not on her lead etc
Any idea of when, if ever, she may grow out of this.

Thanks C43,
I have been just reading that they can be like that until they are 3 / 4, or it can go on til 7 / 8. So I suppose its still early days!0 -
No advice for you but you are not alone my German shepherd is just over 2 years old and is the same. From memory though my two previous shepherds calmed down between two and three so hopefully not long.0

Thanks folks
It never bothered me bfore, but I have just moved house, (had to sell my own home, now renting but that's a whole dif story / thread :-D)
And I do not want her wrecking this house, I am torn between getting a shed for her outside, and seeing will she calm down enough to be allowed inside.0 -
Sorry I thought you meant she was a bit hyper when out for a walk not wrecking your house. Mine is actually fine in the house it's when she is out she gets really excited but once she has burned off her energy she is fine.0

How old was she when she was speyed? The younger they are the longervthey stay giddy. 8ne of mine was done before I got her at 6 month's and was daft til the day she diedPlease forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

She isn't too bad on the lead, it can be getting her onto it in the first place, she runs, jumps, runs some more, etc
As soon as she gets into the house, she darts around ALL over the place, jumping on everything! Up and down...bouncing around etc.
Then after 5 or 10mins she will calm down and lie down and sleep.
I might try and take her in on the lead, and keep her on it for 10mins or so, and then let her off it and see if that works.0 -
She hasn't been spayed, we haven't considered doing that as yet, might it help?0

What is she fed? Some foods like Bakers can make them totally hyper. I would definitely have her Spayed asap, I have no idea if it will help but if she's not for breeding why risk cancer, pyometra, phantom pregnancies & everything else not to mention 3 weeks of missed walks each time?
Has she done any training? Do you try mental stimulation also?0
