Thomas Cook flight delay compensation

Just received £1940 compensation from Thomas Cook! Took your advice and claimed flight delay compensation relating to a flight from Belfast to Orlando in July 2009. The flight was diverted to Norfolk Virginia due to engine problems and I had to wait there for 8 hours 40 mins with my husband and 2 young sons while Thomas Cook arranged another aircraft to take us on to Orlando. On returning home, we contacted Thomas Cook and were told there was no point claiming compensation as we hadn't incurred any expenses for food/beverages or hotel accommodation.Anyway, read Martin's blog last Nov, did the research to prove we were on the flight, wrote the first letter and got a big fat NO! Wrote a second letter threatening to involve the Civil Aviation Authority and Hey Presto! £1940 compensation!! So glad I took your advice:-)
