Thanks all. Staying in a hotel on an island. Sounds romantic until you discover that it is island in the brummy parlance.
i.e. a roundabout.

Gave DH £32 of s and m vouchers to get treats for our weekend away.
Wondering if i need to sling arm to remind me not to use it, seems a bit attention seeking though. Spent a tenner on a support thingy. Super cute Jewish trainee doc told me to go to "tenniselbow support.com". I hope he doesnt lose his mojo when the grind of working in medicine kicks in.
Eta missing duvet cover has reappeared...it was....drum roll...still on the duvet under the other duvet cover.
Alchemilla - i still have no idea where the vouchers are for - i am sure its an obvious supermarket that i am missingbut i managed to read this on the train to work and it gave me a giggle

Hi Alchemilla,
Glad you had a good weekend away. I guess birthday celebrations are a time to splurgeUnfortunately my Mr has a big birthday this year -unfortunately as so do:- my niece, my nephew, my sister and my mum as well as all the usual birthdays  I am undecided on my Mr's main present - it is going to cost quite a bit whatever really as i am thinking a weekend away - although this will only be a fraction of what he has spent on me this year it is still alot of money to me. Of course its not my intention to do something expensive but i want to do something special an have time just to us - as you say the big birthdays just happen the once  I am struggling as i can't decide if it should be a weekend here or abroad. If here i would pay for 1 day of drinks and meals as well as the room - basically he would not need to spend a bean. If abroad i'd be paying for the flights and room only - but of course would need own spends - i think flight and room would be the same as a stay in a lovely place here with everything paid for...
