I have often thought similar about AF Ed. DH and i have kind of given up on healthy lunches though.
I will try to get some healthy stuff next time.
I make our petrol/diesel spend £450 monthly. I have proposed a motion to DH but he is not having any and since the majority of the driving is his...

Watty there has to be a balance I agree. I remember you saying a while back you could have been MF by now if you had worn the hair shirt.

New boots NOT an investment. Worn twice and fallen apart at seams. They have done maybe two miles.

You'll be able to send them back though, won't you?

Did you use a credit card? Shouldn't be an issue, alternatively try and follow it up with eBay. My experiences (largely as a seller) suggest that buyers have fairly good protection when they buy c@rp these days. As a start, I'd contact the seller with a polite explanation of what happened and what you expect them to do (i.e. full refund)
  • Hello,

Re your point about people challenging you..... I think we are all very like minded and get the idea that we all have different points at which we will feel that we have 'done it'. I have mf friends who live in areas that I wouldn't, I would rather take a longer mortgage and live somewhere nicer, but they are happy and who am I to argue with that? For us, I worry that we may never reach that point. I am thinking that we need to cut back so that we can do up the house, save for retirement, have a holiday..... Will there ever come a time when we say, 'let's just live for today?'

Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D

I guess if you lived absolutely for the day you would be foolish...if you made an assumption that tomorrow would take care of itself.
I have a friend who says "God will provide" you might rate her an idiot but she is very careful with money and MF.
There has to be a balance. I dont want to shower every three days like Mr Money Mustache.

Ed i have done as you suggested, thanks. It is a business seller and i paid with paypal which is paid with a CC.

I have been reading your diary for some time now but never commented. I admire your positive thoughts at the end of the day. I also fully accept that people make their own choices in life, as I have often been accused of being too careful with money usually by my kids. Circumstances have led to my way of life, but when you showed us a somewhat aged tea towel I did wonder at the sense of keeping a pony!

Glad you are after a refund on boots.

I've been thinking over the balance thing. Yes, if I had worn the hair shirt I would be MF. But I love my horses, the dog, my life.... ok...I've had enough of working :rotfl:but generally life is good. I love your comment ponyplops provides hours of entertainment. Yes!

I'm actually liking my MF journey now. Its made me much more mindful of what I spend. And how much I've wasted along the way. Wear a hair shirt no! But spend more carefully, more mindfully. Absolutely.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!
