If it is redundancy they can delay it after the original notice period and still give the redundancy tax free.
It happens a lot as companies realise they actualy need people longer so change the end dates.
Thanks I think this is what they are doing now as they want me until the 12th April. I assume I have to sign a compromise agreement I am annoyed about the way they have behaved and would prefer to leave earlier but new job is ok about waiting for me to start.Save £12k in 25 No 49

I can't see any need for CA other than to protect the company.
if you are happy with the payout then not a problem for you.
Get them to sort out the paperwork and agree to pay your legal fees.0 -
Thanks I will see what my manager says when I meet her tomorrow it does seem like they are all running around like headless chickens and trying to get 3 people covering an area 5 people previously covered.
I don't feel the need for a CA and I certainly won't pay any legal fees myself.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Finally got something in writing, I accepted voluntary redundancy by email on the 18th Feb so when they say I have not had my full 7 weeks its not strictly true but seem fine to me.
Dearxxx
Furtherto your discussions over the last few weeks with xxxxx (evil manager) you opted to takevoluntary redundancy from xxxx company. The agreed payment was £15,000 and wouldbe inclusive of any entitlement for holidays accrued but not taken andstatutory redundancy payment. You were to work your notice. Under your contractyou are entitled to 7 weeks’ notice.
Ithas been decided that your last day of work will be the 12th April2013. As you have not had your full 7 weeks’ notice since the decision was madewe are able to pay this as a Compensation Payment and therefore it will be freeof the usual deductions for tax and National Insurance.
You will be sent a cheque on your last working dayfor the above mentioned amount.
I trust this meets with your idea of ourconversations and I would like to thank you on behalf of the company for yourwork to date and wish you all the best for the future.
Sounds OK to me, I have a job to go to on the 15th April which I think I am going to love. I thought this was really really bad when it happened and yes I have taken a £16k pay cut plus lost my company car but with this payout and a job to go to its not worked out too bad. New job will also help my career progression by giving me some management experience.
Thanks for all your help without this board I might not have queried the payout and gone for a much larger one. Having the confidence to know what I was talking about ref Vol redundancy meant I got £15k instead of £2k.Save £12k in 25 No 49
