I see the Aldi Today's Special Lasagneigh and Nags Bol have now been officially recalled according to their website

but still no mention of the other products they have whipped off the shelves

What would you call the presence of an unwanted and unlisted material in a product sold as 100% beefburger?

    Adulteration.

Full marks to shadow-something-person Mary Creagh for referring to the "horsemeat adulteration scandal".

I haven't bought any horse meat as far as I know, but surely a receipt showing the product purchase should do - after all, we all throw the packaging away or recycle but some of us keep reciepts for quite a while.
Isn't it worse if you have actually eaten it as the idea to most Brits is revolting?
  • Just take the burgers back.

Most find it revolting? I've had the impression from MSE and people IRL more are unhappy about not being given the choice/ the labelling being incorrect rather than the actual concept of eating horsemeat.

To me it's just meat, a horse is a working or sports animal not a fluffy pet. If people were truly being revolted in their droves I'd expect a mass conversion to vegetarianism.

Nah then they'd get upset that the label didnt tell them there are insect parts in veggies (while the US has precise guidelines such as no more than 60 insect parts per 100g, the UK only states along the lines of so far that the food is not hazardous for human consumption).

Just take this thread for example (ok more than insect "part" but essentialy the same :D) :

Tesco ought to be using their clubcard records to refund anyone who has bought this product in the recent past. Horsemeat must be expensive, Tesco hiked the price of their value beefburgers 25% shortly before the issue appeared.
  • Might seem like a wild idea, have you tried taking your products to an Aldi store to get a refund?

Thank you Olive Oyl - I'm surprised they have not actually put this on their own website under recalls or something.

However, I see it only relates to the following two specific products:
    Today's Special Frozen Beef Lasagne
    Today's Special Frozen Spaghetti Bolognese

What about the other products they have removed from sale 'for precautionary measures'?
There were at least 3 different ranges of frozen burger they have removed from sale ... and perhaps some other items I don't know about.

The 3 products that have already been withdrawn from sale that I know about are:

    Oakhurst 100% beefburgers (8 pack)
    Oakhurst beefburgers (16 pack)
    Specially Selected Aberdeen Angus quarterpounders

If they've only been removed for precautionary measures, maybe they don't contain anything they shouldn't. Maybe once they've tested them, if they do contain horsemeat they'll refund ?

Maybe calm down a little and give them a chance ? People have been eating these recalled products for a long time, doesn't seem to have caused any problems so far.
