Agreed. I dont think they appreciate the concept of irony.:p
I'll button my lip until I get the claim investigated and hopefully sorted.

It's not difficult to work out if you should be eligible for JSA C.0 -
The class 1 contributions you did make would have been enough. You need to have earnt more than the lower earnings limit each week/month/year for the last 2 tax years. Were you full time for the last 2 years? You did say "most" of was full time.
Actually you only need earned a total of 50 times the weekly LEL for each tax year (unless you have some NI credits from benefits which count week for week toward your LEL total) You can earn this qualifying 50 times LEL in less than 50 weeks, you don't need to have worked for for 50 weeks.0 -
(Replying here rather than the other thread)This is wrong
It is based on your NI-able (EMPLOYED NOT SELF EMPLOYED) earnings during the 2 relevant tax years (currently 2010/2011 &2011/2012) NOT the number of weeks you contributed.

is using ballpark figures approx £5,400 it's not the actual figure I can't be bothered to work out the exact figures but if you earned around this much employed then you definately need to have things looked at closer by a decision maker.
Your JSA claim in 10/11 would not be the reason for the disallowance, if anything that would help your new claim because each week you were on JSA would count as approx £100 NI able earnings.
Thanks... I earned significantly more than that in both years. I fact I've dug out payslips etc and I paid over £6000 in those two tax years in Employee NI contributions (through Employed PAYE).
I changed employers (and tax districts) 4 times in 2010-11 (with temporary contracts and 16 weeks JSA in between) and HMRC screwed up big time as I was Mth 1 tax code for most of the year. As I said, it took 7 months to get an overpayment of tax of over £1000 back.If the ball had gone in the net it would have been a goal.If my Auntie had been a man she'd have been my Uncle.0 -
received a letter from claim for JSA a couple of days ago now stating that I am not eligible for JSA because of not paying enough class 1 National insurance contributions,
I've worked (prior to the last week) solid for 3 years, full time, paying tax and NI monthly on a PAYE basis,
Surely there decision is wrong? I live with my partner who works 28 hours p/w @ £6.25 p/h, if that makes any difference,
Surely we cant be expected to live off that wage alone.
any advice please?0 -

Arrange to speak to someone at the job centre and take in as much evidence as you ...P60's, Payslips and P45's. Because I had about 4 different employers in tax year 2010-11 my P60 for that year only had about 3 weeks earnings as they hadn't received a P45 in time. The Job centnre blindly took that on face value as the sum total of my earnings for that tax year and initally refused my claim. The truth was I had paid sufficient NI for the whole 52 weeks.
My refusal was overturned by 10am the next day.If the ball had gone in the net it would have been a goal.If my Auntie had been a man she'd have been my Uncle.0
