    When I can, I prefer Ethernet over wireless mostly because of the speed lost on wireless.

    Will the speed be any worse than using internet dongle?

    Not the same as mine, have the one with the P6000 processor, must have been one of the last of the previous generation.

    Yes I agree - I'd be very surprised indeed if a 2010 laptop didn't have WiFi as standard.

    It depends, dongles can only transmit data as fast as the USB connection allows.

    Type wifi into the search bar and nothing comes up.

    So have you tried pressing the F2 key? i.e the one with the radio symbol?
    Are you using windows 7?
    If so try opening the network and sharing centre.
    That gum you like is coming back in style.
