Short answer no. Police can apply to get hold of your data but they need a court order to do this and you would have to be suspected of a serious offence for this to happen - e.g. failing to stop after an accident, vehicle being used in a criminal act etc.

Also, the evidence from the box (for speeding) is not currently admissible in court. All of the static and mobile speed cameras are calibrated to a set standard to be able to be used as evidence in court. Although just as accurate, none of the 'black box' devices have the same 'formal' calibration so cannot be used as part of a speeding prosecution..
All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.

There's no reason, in theory at least, why it couldn't be used in a speeding prosecution. If equipment isn't type approved it doesn't mean it's not admissible, it just means that the prosecution can't rely on the streamlined process for submitting it and would have to produce an expert witness to explain how it works and why the court should rely on it. Speedometers, for example, have never been type approved and have always produced admissible evidence. It's also well settled law (Nichols v Penny, circa 1950 IIRC) that if the speed alleged is significantly over the limit the equipment doesn't have to be calibrated to any particular standard, the court just has to be satisfied that it's accurate enough that they can be sure that you were exceeding the limit.

In practice though it's very unlikely that the police and CPS would go to the trouble of trying to admit evidence from a black box to prosecute for a minor speeding offence. However if you were in a serious accident and accused of causing death by dangerous driving, they might well use the fact that your black box said you'd been doing 80mph in a built up area as evidence.

No they can do something much much worse. They can cancel your insurance. :T

Declare having insurance cancelled and see what that does to your quotes.

Insurance want you to cook them a cake, And let them eat it and then make you do the washing up and take out the garbage. :j
