DMP & Mutual Support Thread - Part 9

My hotel costs are for work so I do get the money back as expenses (I keep a float for expenses and my DMP includes costs for my high mileage costs)
I have a basic bank account with the Co-op and haven't had any problems booking hotels, trains etc.
We try to save up for days out or weekends away but holidays away are one of the sacrifices we have had to make for the time being:(Debt Free 1st March 2017

Well the ball seems to be rolling.
I've had acknowledgment from SC that they have my docs, and I have started to tell creditors.
I still keep swinging between feeling really optimistic that this is going to be dealt with (finally - only took 10 years) and feeling so pathetic and helpless that it came to this.
Is this normal?~~I am debt free~~0 -
Ha, I was just updating my DMP balances and mostly the balances are correct (pennies here and there) except for RMA Resolve who confirmed my balance as being just £4.18!
This is excellent news as it means that is £25 less than I thought and will be paid off entirely when my next payment goes out to them
Even better, this means that come the end of the month I will be sub £12k :j not by much but a balance starting with £11k is better than £12k
Who'd have thunk £25 could be so exciting? LOL

Hi TTDI,
Feelings of guilt are pretty common, you feel like you've failed when in fact you've outflanked your debts and gone "Ah ha! Now I've got you...".
Trust me in no time at all you'll be on top of the world as you watch those balances start to decrease

Hi igaveupnowimback and welcome :hello:
Please could you give us an indication of what the minimum monthly payment should be on each of your debts? Are they all charging the actual rate of interest stated and are you getting any additional charges added? Also if any are defaulted or have been moved to a DCA etc?

I have my hair coloured and cut for £22 and have just booked myself in for my nails to be manicured and treated for £8.50 - the girls are usually in their last year and are supervised throughout. I have been going along for various treatments for a good few years and have always had a great experience;)
Thanks for this, I'm a bit wary of our local college, had a very bad experience a few years ago (went in with long hair and 3 hours later came out looking like they'd stuck a bowl of bleach on my head and cut round it). Since debt busting I've switched from blonde to brunette and salon to home for colour and I've just trimmed my own fringe. As it was short and layered 6 months of growth isn't looking bad at all. Bought moroccan oil from lidl as a weekly treatment and stocked up on top brand products in the Boots 70% sale back in January.
I think they're coming to the end of term soon too so might try to get in before it ends or the first week of next term to be the teacher's demo

Completly "normal". In fact I've come to the conclusion that the rollercoaster is a good thing. It means you are taking this seriously and you are committed. If you weren't you wouldn't be bothered at all. Plus you are still "coming down" from the constant adrenaline rush you've lived on for as long as it's taken.
Be kind to yourself, you have been through a lot to get to this point and if you follow the plan things will never be this bad again.
