Who are you getting your new bank account with? I did mine over the phone with the Co-op and they were pretty quick. I do agree about getting your money out once your commitments are paid. It is a difficult time, a bit like doing a moonlight flit! Good luck
Co-op looked best to me, so I am going with them. I applied to them online, they said no problem, the paperwork will be coming through.....
I'll give them a couple of more days before ringing them.Hopelessly_Hopeful wrote: »Welcome
Good strategy but Id start withdrawing now until it's empty as SC may inform them accidentally. You can always pay the bills with cash.
HHx
Yeah, I think I may well do that. Although last DD comes out tomorrow, and SC only have been given all the info today...
I'll pull out all the cash tomorrow whatever. I did mention in my email to SC that I hadn't told the bank and that I hadn't set up a new bank yet.
All the best, peeps...DO NOT PANIC.
The future is looking good now...0 -
Well today I finally feel like I am about to start a new life.
My new basic account has the funds in it, the DD is set-up and ready to go with Step-change. I have updated my balances on my Debts sheet and am amazed that they haven't altered to much.
We phoned round all our creditors to change our contact telephone number and all of them were polite and some were in fact very pleasant as we are dealing with our debts.:T
M&S were very supportive as were Barclaycard. The store cards have obviously passed the debt to collections agency but haven't told us, however the agency were pleasant on the phone and didn't push us to make a payment. Tesco's credit card have accepted the plan.
Has anyone got experience of HSBC?? They have sent us letters saying the signature doesn't match the signatures they have on record ???? ! We need to go into branch to confirm signatures? are they playing for time? They have said they won't accept the DMP until they verify the signature.£27461.40 in Debt, Start DMP on 1/03/13. Hi Fatbottomgirl,
Well done on getting started, quite a few of us starting our DMP in March.
HSBC oh where to start:eek: quite a few of us are struggling with them. I've wrote explaining our situation and offering a token payment, which they cashed. SC have wrote to them and still no acknowledgement. Today in the post a statement for our OD account saying they have charged another £50. It's like banging your head against a brick wall.
I understand from others on here that phoning them is pretty pointless as well. I think I'm going to go straight down the complaint route, maybe then they will acknowledge the DMP!
Good luck with everything JulieStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Thank you TTFTM for the template letter, I am going to send them at the weekend to Halifax and HSBC, and perhaps contact the FOS in the next week too, to get the wheels turning. Thanks soo much for your help!
And to the other people experiencing problems with HSBC- Ive got to say they have been absolutely awful with me, hence why I am sending a letter of complaint to them threatening them with the FOS. They too told me that my Stepchange letter signature didnt match their records- to which I explained I had actually PRINTED- in capitals- my name, as I had on ALL my other letters and not one other creditor made a fuss about it! It has been one thing after the other. Not too impressed with Halifax either, but HSBC are definitely the worst. Anyway good luck everyone. Ill keep u posted with how my complaining goes xDMP started Jan 2013.
Due to end 2018.
Happy to be sorting out our debt0 -

Thanks for all your responses guys, I do appreciate it.
Nothing to report yet. Have decided that I am going to email Stepchange in the first instance with all the points that I want to make. I am also going to put a post on the Ask a Debt Adviser as suggested!
Am going to stay here and hang around as I found this forum invaluable when setting up my DMP and I need to focus.
Hope everyone else is ok too. I agree HSBC are a nightmare, they are still charging interest on my OD and my CC. I need to get my backside in gear and try and write to them about removing the interest.
I never get any phone calls from any of my creditors though. I sent them letters telling them that the only way they could contact me is post. Sainsburys and Black Horse both left phone messages a short while ago and I rang them up and told them to remove my details and haven't heard anything since.Make £10 a day: £48.76/£1500 -
Newbie to Forum
Wanted to say hello and ask a little advice please? My OH & I have had a DMP with SC since Oct and all going well although currently we won't be debt free for 8 years (started on £70k). I am currently receiving inpatient treatment at a mental institution and am obviously worried about whether I can keep up with my job. Does anyone have any experience of longer term DMP or debt & mental health issues so I know what to expect if I have to give up work?Started DMP Oct 2012 debtfree date 1st March 2020
Starting debt £72481
Current debt £47600. 33% paid off!!!:T:rotfl::rotfl::j
