Kate_fixing_it wrote: »OMG I'm close to tears again! I'm really bad at asking for help, the initial call to SC was incredibly hard. This week hasn't been helped in that DH has been working away and my car is still off the road (being repaired as I type!) I've had to rely on lifts to work and on school runs plus no adult support at home
I'm so grateful I joined this thread - the support and advice is fantastic and you've already saved me from one mistake! I think a weekend of the simple things is in order, basic essential housework and making the most of the days before DH heads off again tomorrow night.
Thank you all so much, not sure where I'd be without you.

Hi Kate,
As TTFTM says the start of a DMP isn't easy. Expect the stupid emotions to drive you crazy! It must be hard not having DH around to talk to and to set your mind at rest. However I promise you it will get better and in a few months time everything will have settled down leaving you to get on with your life. This is a very supportive thread and in the three years I have been here I have only once seen someone being less then nice. So to reiterate TTFTM's words - keep your chin up. She is very wise is TTFTM along with her twin HH. I find it very heart warming that so many people here give their time and effort to help every one else. We are a nice bunch:DDMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421

A long road, deservedly so as my own fault. but definate light at the end of the tunnel. After 9 years on DMP. 11 years looked another long slog. Now its 5 or 6 :j
Opened a brand new bank account yesterday for PPI cheques.
Once I am finished with my PPI journey then its time to start making some F&F settlement offers.31st December 2004 - Debt was £128,596.72

Well hello everyone. Times change around here but I can see a few familiar faces.
I've been on a DMP for three years and four months now, we started with 19 creditors, and owed about £43k. We're now down to £21,750 owed. Which is great, but, my patience is flagging and I'm tiring of the whole thing. I'm sure I'll get back on it, but I have DMP fatigue!! That said, christ only knows how much we'd owe by now if we'd not managed to get all 19 debts on to a 0% interest footing!!
So, I need to keep looking forward to November 2019...........! And I MUST get my butt into gear for chasing PPI!!
Good luck everyone, wherever you are on the journey.

:hello: Hi SAAC, nice to see you back  We've been on our DMP for nearly three years now so I get what you mean when you say you have DMP fatigue. It's nice to see the debt coming down though. Good luck on your journey too.DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421

I do sympathise as I am in the third year and does become rather a grind. Like most it took a few years to get in this state and thus will take a few to get out of it. A positive is that my mind set now questions all expenditure ie it a need or want? Having no access to credit definitely makes me prioritise and save up for things which would have been put on credit cards in the past. A very sobering lesson has finally been learnt.0 -

I think we all have these fed up times and I start obsessing over my spreadsheet and doing what if scenarios. Am currently looking at holidays, thinking where will we go when we are debt free .....
The thing that really keeps me going is recording and celebrating milestones, getting into next thousand or even better ten thousand mark; reaching next 5 or 10% paid off; seeing the end of a complete debt etc.
Get on to claiming back the PPI, it will reduce your DFD and hopefully motivate you.

Morning all - well still plugging away although after a few months with no interest on the hfx cc. it was back on when arrived. although it had said in an earlier letter they would move to default if i didnt pay in full by 12th March. really hoping it finally defaults as the annual statement showed i had paid £1500 or so alone to the card but £1338 was charged in interest. FOS cant do anything so am just hoping and praying they do default or this will never get moved.
anyway dog walked wind in my hair and feeling a bit better. enjoy your sundayLBM Sept 2012

Hi all, I've been in my dmp since December 2009 and should be debt free by August 2015 :-) would have been this year but had a bit of a set back so been extended by a year- however all my other creditors have frozen my interest apart from Barclay card- has anyone else managed to do this- I'm with payplan and sent them an email last week to see if they can get this reduced- or better still frozen- I see a huge change in all my other balances apart from Barclay card0

I forgot to say each year I try to get barclaycard to reduce/ freeze and have sent the standard letters but they doll not budge0
