If you read back some of this thread you'll find lots of similar questions and answers. I complained about creation and got the interest rate lowered and a refund coming. I know bc can be tricky creditors but definitely worth the price of a stamp or phone call to fos.

Many thanks will have a look and see what I can do :-). On another note, I've just done a scary thing and looked at my credit report!!! Not all as bad as I only have 1 defaulted account and the rest are showing satisfactory payments since I started my dmp :-) which means I have a fair credit score- I was expecting this to be v poor so it just shows that even tho on a dmp can improve ur rating :-) xx0

Hello everyone, me again!
Hope you are all getting on well with your DMPs this week. Quick question-how long do you typically have to wait to get a reply from your creditors when you send letters? It's now been nearly 6 weeks since letters were sent to creditors informing them OH was changing to a self-managed DMP and needed up to date balance and payment info and still no response from 2 creditors, even though they would normally have received a payment via the old DMP over 2 weeks ago now-we thought that would have given them a kick to reply! Should we send chase up letters or just wait for them to get in touch?
Thanks0 -

Hi Cekaelta
Did you send the letters recorded post? if yes, I would give them a call if you feel up to it? If not recorded, I would send a repeat letter but recorded post and then follow up with a phone call later in the week. Sometimes they just don't help themselves do they..
Had a thought while watching the Halifax advert...Halifax give you extra..yes they certainly do according to this thread :rotfl:
Also had a thought about those doing it tough in long term DMPs, before I went to DMP I looked at how long it would take me to pay off CC on the minimum payments which I was making, and for me it would have been 104 years!!! so I'm hopeful even with some interest charged with my DMP it'll be quicker than that. Maybe thinking like that'll help me keep going when I get to the three year DMP itch?:)
Hope its all good for everyone this week. Happy St Pats dayDebt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.

Anybody any experience of how Santander handle an overdraft in a DMP.
I've effectively cancelled all payments, cut up the cards etc and included it in the DMP. Stepchange will have written to them with budget etc, I've just done the same but telling them I won't be paying salary into it anymore meaning I will no longer qualify for the authorised overdraft. So the daily fees will start?
Do they just transfer it into a simple debt rather than an overdraft from a current account?0 -

I had an OD with Abbey National when I entered my DMP.
Abbey National transferred it to their collections unit and never charged me a penny in interest and fees.0 -

Hi everyone,
Thought I'd swing by this forum and say hello as I've been reading for a while and have been on a DMP for just over a year now.
At its highest point the debt was around 10K but I've got it down to just over 7K now and have paid off 3 credit cards completely :j, hoping to be debt-free by xmas 2015 if I snowball correctly.
Quite pleased with myself as I was with a fee-charging debt management company for the first year (Baines and Ernst) but rang them at the weekend and cancelled, saving myself £41 a month in management charges! Will go self-managed now as I have fewer creditors to deal with. I rang them all to arrange payment plans and found them all to be quite nice and helpful! So far so good!
Good luck to everyone else and stay positive, you've all been great inspirationStarting 2016 debt-free
