Think I will be joining the DMP gang shortly. Due to some unforseen circumstances I find myself in about £4,000 worth of debt to PDL companies.

Filled out the checklist with StepPlan (Who I found to be excellent help) and have just sent this onto my creditors.

I am a tad worried they will send me letters at home or even worse to my work. Hopefully not though.

Looking forward to clearing out this debt though, should be free of it at the beginning of December :T

Just to check, by StepPlan I hope you're referring to either StepChange or PayPlan and not a DMP provider who charges right?

Many thanks - my debts similar to yours and in same position re f&f - however they were charging me interest so hopefully at least that'll stop !

keep hounding them - for one of mine it took almost 9 months and the FOS to get all interest rates stopped and it felt like I was walking backwards all the time cos the amount owing was going up and not down. At least now I can see some progress each month with the balances creeping downwards :)

being passed to a DC is a good thing from what I can see - I've had one that was less than charming and helpful but I insisted on written contact only which they kept to. all the others (3 so far) I've had no problems with :)

hope it works out the same for you :D

Hi all, quick update from me - my first payment went to SC on the 1st Feb, and will go to the creditors on the 25th - it seems like soooo long since I started this ball rolling so can't wait till that first payment reaches them!! MBNA have accepted and frozen all interest and charges, and are happy with the payment date. Barclaycard went silent on the phonecalls (relief!), then just got a statement from them with no charges, the correct "next payment" amount ie the DMP offer amount and an adjusted payment date to the 28th so that all seems hunkydory for now anyway! Halifax have called a few times and sent me another statement with charges so will chase them up after the payment has been sent on the 25th - hopefully they are just being a bit slow. And will wait and see on HSBC, the only ones who said they were rejecting the offer.

Welcome to all the new guys on here and good luck with your DMP set ups - what I will say is that although you gets loads of phoncalls etc while you are getting things going, which is a stress, they soon back off when you actually get the DMP under way so try not to worry too much. And the releif of not having to find those pennies each month is HUGE - how I was managing I really don't know, and the weight that I feel has been lifted off me is immense!!!

Yay for DMPs and this board!

    Morning all

    Just wondering?

Logged onto MBNA to check current owed total and it says, no account exist with that username...glitch or they've passed it on to a DCA? Did issue default notice a while ago

I've just had the same thing! But I don't recall having a letter issuing the default, although when MBNA wrote to me regarding the DMP offer they said they would be issuing one...i'll keep you updated Sazzie if I receive any DCA letters or anything...

    Hi

I am same as you. Made first Payment to SC 1st Feb, I have 15 creditors only heard from 3 by post, accepting plan. Have not heard a thing from anyone else. Been about 2-3 weeks since SC contacted creditors. I am so impatient. Feel so helpless. I have had one missed call on my mobile last week thats it. Very strange. Is it the calm before the storm.!! Want to fast forward 6 months!!!

Do stepchange take your money out when you want or just the 1st of every month? I get paid the 15th so would just rather them take it the day I get paid?

    Hi
Just want to re-iterate what everyone else has said really. We didn't get many letters saying our creditors were accepting our DMP but they still take the money each month.
Marks and spencer have frozen interest - I just get a normal monthly statement with no charges (great)
Sainsburys bank have defaulted me and referred me to their internal debt collections agency ( but I not heard anything else)
Barclays Bank have frozen interest and accepted plan and closed the account and place it with recoveries team and defaulted us
Barclaycard are just sending me normal statements with interest reduced to 0.251% per month (greatly reduced but not frozen interest, not defaulted or communicated with us either)
Santander - real pain but after several letters from me, they have now agreed to freeze interest and accept DMP
GE - on going battle re interest , now involving FOS, but no default.

So basically, they are all different, still a worry but so much better than before the DMP started. I am thinking of writing to them after 6 months if they all haven't defaulted me as I want to get that stage over with ASAP!

Sorry it's a long post, but just wanted to reassure you that we are all in together, to help each other and to ask whatever you need to because we have all been there and I'm sure I will have more questions as I continue through my journey xx. :grouphug:

Stepchange offered us 1st or 10th for direct debits, hope that helps, if not give them a call and discuss with them x

:hello: Just wanted to say welcome to all the new DMPers coming on board. You are most definitely in the right place to ease the trauma of starting a DMP.

Boiler is now fixed and we are soooo pleased to be warm again! Cost £50 so not as bad as I had thought initially. I wonder what the next thing to break down will be? I hope that car of mine isn't getting any ideas..........
