need some advice please from those that have more of an idea how these things work than me.

I'm on a self managed DMP from NEDCAB and am finally seeing the light with interest frozen on all accounts and defaults issued plus offers of payment accepted and being received with no issues.

I logged into my Noddle report today to see how things are going on there (got my last default notice showing up so strangely pleased about that - how your priorities change... )anyway I have one creditor that is missing from the list - it was originally Aqua credit card but it has been sold onto a DCA whom have accepted the payment offer and confirmed receipt of payment.

Find it a bit weird that its 'missing' its nice that it makes it look like my amount I owe has dropped by a couple of thousand without me doing anything but I guess it will show up again in the future. Does anyone have any idea how long these companies have to update your credit file with any changes to your account - it was sold on and the new payment scheme put in place with the DCA just less than a month ago so I assume its just that things haven't 'caught up' yet?

    thanks in advance!

I had an Nram loan sold on to Marlin in October and its disappeared from Noddle - I understand it could take 2/3 months to appear and always best to check Equifax or Experian as companies report to different Credit ref agencies. Noddle does not show everything as my mortgage and one of bank accounts is missing. I get the two pound statutory reports from Equifax and Experian every six months.

Christmas all paid for with cash and vouchers and wrapped and ready.. Food in fridge and freezer.. Let the festivities begin..

It has also been over 4 months since I last used a credit card.. and budget still going well.. long may it continue.. although I have no doubt I shall have some troubles along the way.. (car..) hopefuly just little one's.....

Letter back from the one cc still charging interest, sorry not been in touch still investigating... how long does it take to work out that if I pay £36 and you charge me £32 we are going to be here a long time......

No word from N.West about interest on overdraft or loan, will follow that one up in the new year so I can keep my SC figures straight...

    Evening all

Well done Puzz, its great to see the balance going down into the next K.

I now realise I need to make more changes before next Christmas as my 'spare' cash is depleting rapidly. Cross with myself as bought some things without thinking through who they were for and could have saved the money,& been more frugal. Still onwards and upwards, have a storecupboard of food just need to get meat & bread...and its only 2 days ... I can live without pork pie and chocolate log!

Quiet on here, I hope all DMP'ers are surviving the festive season.
SC folk, payments have gone already so those balances will be reduced already

    Hi
Got my sc statement and compared it to my cc statements and realised I had underestimated some of my original debts! Not by a lot but after 2 monthly payments to sc the net figure hasn't actually gone down! A bit fed up, but updated the balances on line,

Now going to write and ask about freezing interest because I don't know about 3 of them. 1 are still applying late payment charges but that's another story!

I also wrote to Barclays re charges and they have said they are investigating and will get back to me by 7th January

Keep your fingers crossed for me as that will be a great help if I get any refund!

Christmas sorted, massive reductions on last year, all paid in cash and agreements with some family and friends to not buy this year so we are trying really hard!

Hope everyone else is doing ok x
  • Well done Puzzcat, I find it so motivational on reaching another milestone and it really does keep you on track and ready to achieve the next one:)

    Take care

  • We've just started out on our Debt free Journey, first payment went out to SC this month and has just been distributed amongst our creditors. Most are onboard with it as far as I can tell. as it's early days we're still awaiting some of the Default letters to arrive.

The nicest feeling, for me anyway, is the knowledge that there won't be any credit card bills arriving after Christmas and that what we're spending is actually OUR money, albeit not a lot of it, rather than somebody else's.

It's going to be a long hard slog but, for the first time in a long time, I feel back in control again. This is a major step for me as I have been diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder which, amongst other things, means that I set myself high standards to live up to. Now I feel back in control I can begin to live up to those standards.

Thank you to everyone who has posted in this thread and on this forum for giving me the inspiration to take the first DFW step.

I hope you all have a Brilliant Christmas, once this horrible storm passes, and a Happy New Year.

    Hi All,

This is our second Christmas now on a DMP and its a much more relaxing time than last year, its also a million times better than the one we had 3/4 years ago. Things are still tough, we have to watch every penny but Christmas is bought and paid for with cash, our debts are slowly going down - crazy that we owe more now than our first house cost in the late Eighties!! But we don't hear from any of the creditors apart from monthly statements and yearly statements. Next year will be a good milestone year for us, my underpaid tax to the HMRC will be paid up by August, some smaller creditors will also be paid up so more money can go to the others.
Thanks to all the posters here and a real special thanks to some of the long termers - you will never know how much you have calmed us down over the last few years!!!

Merry Christmas all and have a very happy and peaceful New Year!
    Debts as of June 2012 - £68,986.35
    Now £27,470.20 :T
