Agreed as well, this place is the best on the net whether you are in debt or not.
The best things in life are certainly free HH (well apart from a Mercedes SLK!)

Started preparing for my annual SC review today - slightly bizarrely by updating my gas & electric readings, had not dared do it before in case they wanted to up the DD by loads.
I know now, after advice from this thread, that it would be manageable if they did - but as I'd got this far I thought may as well sort it all out together.
Planning to do the actual review on line between Christmas & New Year.Debt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.

Hi all little update from me,
Everything going tickety boo (touch wood)
Xmas has been paid for from the budget and I have to confess this is the first year I have not used credit for Xmas and it feels great!!!
Both cars had to have quite a bit of work done last month but thanks to the emergency fund and a bit of squirrelling away we managed.
I can't express how great it feels not to be going into a new year with the dread of the credit card statements coming though! It's amazing!
We've even managed to afford panto tickets for Thursday night with a little bit spare money left over! I'm in shock to be honest.... I've been quite frugal, but the kids are still getting nice pressies and while myself and OH aren't buying for each other, we are going to have a fab family time and I'm so looking forward to it!
Hope ur all doing well and enjoy the festivities to come. Merry Christmas and a happy healthy new year to he all xxLBM Dec 2012 total debt 33,889 :eek:dmp started March 2013 DFD Dec 2024
Nov 2015 balance £22,679 going in the right direction!!
Onwards n upwards!:T0 -

The co-op have offered me a f & F payment of 75% of the balance owed. Has anyone had any luck in negotiating an lower settlement?
Just wondering if I should just pay it and get them of our backs. We are hoping to keep enough money back to pay for a new boiler and have some radiators fitted so we don't have such a cold Winter as our last two without central heating.
ETA I should have said we have received a legacy so can pay off some of our debts.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

Another little update..
Statement in from Cap One cc... 0 interest and charges..:T
So that's 6 out of 7 cc's on 0%. No word about my loan or od so will wait till January and then ring up and find out what is occuring with them...
On the calculation of just these 7 cc's I have paid off 0.08% of my debt.. whoop whoop....
Still waiting for a response back from Creation re interest charging...
Hope your all getting organised for the big day.. Santa will be here in 7 days times....Christmas 2020 £109

Well done Puzz. Cap One have always been fine with us too.
Feeling the stress of Christmas. OH got some overtime to pay for the pressies but things are tight after having to pay more out for the car and it has caused a few heated exchanges.I didn't feel able to reduce our payment for yet another month so we decided to try and pay for it from our very small emergency fund. Today his card got declined and he was a very unhappy bunny. Roll on Friday and pay day.

Hi Peeps
I had my nightmare Xmas last year when my gas oven gave up the ghost on you guessed it, Xmas day. I ended up having to buy a cooker, which really smashed the emergency fund.
It did make me realise that I was living on the edge whilst on a DMP and started on Xmas early by building up cash and incentives by doing a few 'selective' survey sites during year. So much so that it paid for my Xmas presents via vouchers and paypal this year. I also do other bits and pieces part time, which help the cause.
There is so many ideas on this site for creating other income during the year, that its worth having a peruse and may give you a less stress free Xmas next year as there is very little give in a DMP budget.0
