    Hi everyone :hello:

Welcome to all newbies and it's good to see some familiar faces here too. I feel terrible because I haven't popped in for so long but have some bad stuff going on with redundancy situation at work and have been buried under all of that.

    Hi TTFTM

Hope this works out for you. I was in a similar boat last year and it is very stressful especially when you don't know what is happening. I was on edge all the time awaiting the next announcement from the company about their future plans, and how it would affect my job.

Good news on the debt busting though:j

Hi Ladbroke, these are some of the things we have on our list you haven't got. They may not apply to you of course. Your food/drink amount seems high, is this just for you? If this amount includes leisure activities that is one on my list you can cross off!

council tax (I'm assuming this is already included in your rent)
    insurance (contents?)
    prescriptions
    dental
    opticians/glasses/contact lenses
    emergencies
    pension
    leisure activities
    newspapers/magazines

  • Hi all,

Just thought I would check in and update how we are doing. Helped by Lloyds refunding the interest they charged on our loan since we started our DMP, this month we have dropped under the £30k point.

Good luck to all those just starting out on their DMP journey. It does get easier, and once everything has settled down, it feels great to be back in control.
    LBM - July 2012
Debt at start of DMP £36750
    Debt at Feb 2013 [STRIKE]£34600[/STRIKE] April 2013 [STRIKE]£34332[/STRIKE] October 2013[STRIKE] £29994[/STRIKE] February 2014 [STRIKE] £27196[/STRIKE] August 2014 [STRIKE]£24,072 [/STRIKE]
January 2015 debt £0.00 - and not going back!

Update from me. New bank account sorted. Almost all DDs switched over. Stepchange payment comes out on 1st November. Waiting to start hearing from creditors. We feel so much better already and there is definitely less stress between us. 6 out of 9 of our credit accounts are with Santander!! So it will be interesting to see what happens there as far as interest goes.
The support and encouragement on here is great. I just wish we had done this sooner instead of struggling on for so long.

    Hi Samjangi,

We are starting our journey at the same time, with the same amount of creditors. I only have 3 accounts with the same creditor but this makes up 33% of my total debt..(which is huge....). Will be keeping my fingers crossed that all goes to plan. Hope your journey goes well.

    Hey all,

Think we may have dropped a big one today. OH had a letter from Ford who we have a car on finance with, its basically a Ford options package, we have a further 1.5 years to go with this but they wrote to us and said to call in as they mat have good news. We went in and they told us they could re-do the package and our monthly payment would go down by £18. We were caught up in the whole thing and agreed to this, but as we were about to drive off we realised what we were doing - refinancing the whole debt for a longer term - I don't know why we thought it would be any different. We went back in and told the guy we were on a DMP and it wouldn't be worth doing this anyway, he told us that the forms had already been submitted to the Ford finance company....
Anyway we got a call about 10 minutes later to say we had been rejected. No real bother to us, but now I am worrying that our creditors may think we have been trying to get further credit.
We were honestly just baffled with the whole offer and the thought of saving £18 a month. I can't believe after all we have gone through we would be so stupid!!!
I just hope that this stays hidden from all our creditors and SC....
    Debts as of June 2012 - £68,986.35
    Now £27,470.20 :T
    57% of debts cleared:beer:
