Good idea Poohbear so there is at least an account you can move wages and DD's that you can.

Changing DD's and wages is no hassle and easily done if you do it yourself rather than waiting for the bank to switch it, most will accept either an online change or a quick phone call, mine was all done in an hour so. You can also choose which ones you want to transfer.

Good luck with it and I hope you manage to get your OH to see sense.

Its been pretty quiet lately, Halifax sold on the debt so we are paying a debt agency now.
Natwest have finally closed our bank account which hadn't been used since last August. I had cancelled all our direct debits then and moved everything to the Coop. Strange thing is that in the last few days we have had loads of letters saying that direct debits have been cancelled - but we are paying through SC to all the creditors. A letter has turned up today to my OH from our Natwest bank saying that the debt has been transferred to Triton collection services and to get in touch. This was a joint account so I am puzzled why I didn't get a letter as well, all other account sthat are in joint names mean that we get all the letters duplicated. I will give SC a call tomorrow and let them know. Then a letter off to Triton to let them know the DMP details.
I guess it will calm down again after this hiccup. Its strange, you start to get on with your life and then these things bring you back to reality!!
    One day though.......
I am starting to look at how to reduce the debt free day, I reckon at the moment we can knock 1 year off this but still a long way off....
    Debts as of June 2012 - £68,986.35
    Now £27,470.20 :T
    57% of debts cleared:beer:

I've emailed my payroll service today to urgently change my bank details for my salary at the end of May. They are a new payroll service and i unfortunately have very little faith in them!! If my salary goes into my old account where i owe a loan and overdraft, if i'm quick enough will i manage to transfer it straight out??

I would withdraw the any money and close the account now.

Also ask for written conformation from payroll that they have correct details and that money not going directly into new account will have significant implications for you.

    Good luck

Can you get written confirmation from payroll and HR. I was able to as had the same concerns as you! that way you have a sense of recourse should anything go wrong.

Please consider asking for it in writing or it will be difficult for any recourse should there be a problem!

Hello :o I'm hoping this might be the right place to ask for some advice? It's come to the point where my husband and myself are seriously considering a dmp. We're really struggling, and I think it might be the way forward for us, but I just don't know what to do for the best. My head is just going round and round and I have about a million questions... one being, we have a house (paying mortgage) and I'm wondering how a dmp would affect that? We're currently on a tracker deal which ends in August. If we were in a dmp by then, would we be able to get another fixed deal of any kind, or would we just have to stick with the standard interest rate which it will switch to after the original deal finishes?
