According to Wikipedia gin and tonic is a cocktail so I'll have one of those please. I'm quite partial to a snowball too - but they are only for Christmas:rudolf:

Just figured out how old I will be in 2025 (end date on my DMP at the moment.)

I won't use words as I will get banned. Just:

    :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

This will not happen. I have a pilots licence to get back. Must do sooner! :j

Wow that is some going, not just the amounts but the very short length of time.

    What was your approach?

12 years does sound tough Murph.

    Have you considered other options?

My 'approach' was a relative giving me half of an inheritance which she had received unexpectedly. She did not 'need' it all herself as she has a substantial retirement income(more than I earn anyway) and investment portfolio already, and I would get it when she died anyway, so she said she would rather pay my debts off, and let me have a life now. I offered to pay it back and she said just never do it again, and I won't. I suspect I would be disinherited if I did.

I did repeatedly turn it down by the way, but she insisted.

I feel ashamed to be here on this thread with people who are doing it themselves when I have been gifted this amount of money:(.

So I can claim no credit in getting my debts paid off after only 10 months with PayPlan.

Last year a family member took their own life leaving a wife and family, due to problems with money/redundancy, this affected us all very badly. Maybe this made her so insistent.

First DMP payment went through and got distributed last month.
I'm going to wait for a couple to go by before assessing where all my creditors are at and what they're doing.
Then the campaign against any interest / charges will begin if necessary.

I think this is going to be my plan aswell (unless the creditors contact me first) give it a few months and see what they are doing.

Don't leave it too long. Keep a careful eye on monthly statements and if you can see interest and/or charges being added, send off a letter of complaint ASAP.

It's much easier to get interest stopped early on in a DMP, so the sooner you act, the better. Once you start approaching minimum payments, the creditors like to use that as an excuse and say you are not in financial difficulty, so they can't help you any more.

If you need any help with complaints, just shout out and someone will provide a template letter.
