I'm using NOD32. It costs about £22 for 1 license and 1 years subscription. I've yet to have a problem with it. It's very light, doesn't use up much system resources (compared with other products), updates itself regularly and (from what I've read) is very efficient at finding viruses.

Apparently McAfee or Kaspersky are meant to be the best, but at the moment I'm happy with NOD32.

When I had someone come round to fix my PC, he told me that AVG free is not very good since it updates on a weekly basis. He advised me to used Kaspersky since they constantly update. Is this true?

My Norton AntiVirus subscription is up in a couple of weeks, can anyone recommend any good packages at decent prices at the moment?

Hi - my norton also runs out at the end of the month - when I tried to subscribe for another year it would not let me (2002 version). I then installed AVGfree and it seems fine - automatically updates daily, checks emails, recogonised in windows security centre etc - found 4 viruses on 1st scan that Norton had missed ( trojans). I liked Norton as I had used it for 6 years and knew my way around, but so far AVG seems fine. Just in case I miss Norton too much it is regularly available on ebay at 12.95 plus 2.99 p+p (probably cheaper than upgrades anyway)

I have downloaded AVG and ZoneAlarm

I basically want to stop people hacking into my computer, either to take personal info from it or to give it viruses. Also want it to check any emails sent to me for viruses. Will update the virus definitions periodically and will also check the system.

Will these 2 programs be enough?

yes, just download Ad-aware from www.lavasoft.com to scan for spyware or if you have Xp then download the Microsoft one and turn on all the options like auto-update and protection
