  • If there's no cashback, it's a scam, right?
  • No, it's a scam because it's the law that you have to buy motor insurance. I've had some banter with "InsideInsurance" on this topic on a different thread, and was just prodding him again :D
  • Because they are a business not a charity? Since when was all business a scam? I am sure you make equal accusations against all the supermarkets (that make bigger profits than insurers), car manufacturers, clothing shops, web designers, bloggers, train companies, airlines, accountants.... actually pretty much everyone given we live in a capitalist country and most products/ services are from for profit companies

Since I legally have to buy the products.
I have no choice, ergo. scam.

Why are customers expected to cover "operational costs" all the while insurers are banking massive profits? Oh yes, that's right ... "business", greed, and legalised scamming. I nearly forgot.

    Are you for real?

Are you really asking why businesses selling goods want to cover their costs?

Wouldn't you be better lobbying the government to set up a better solution, rather than criticising the insurance industry.

Even better, set up your own insurance company if you are dissatisfied with the current market. An Irish guy tried it - see how it worked out for him.

That won't work, the insurance industry can do no wrong in the eyes of this government.

Customers cover all the costs of every business*. Who else do you propose pays the costs?

[EDIT: *Ignoring subsidised businesses, for the pedantic.]

I think you are missing my point.
If 3rd party insurance cover is government mandated, then it should be government provided, and paid for via taxation. Not via money making private business and fat cats.

If it was government provided then we would all pay for it via tax. No doubt it would be much less efficient too.

We'll pay for it one way or another

The government, via taxation. I've already ranted on a different thread about all of this, this was just another opportunity to have a dig, and "try" to get people to "think" a little bit, and not just be brain washed conformist sheep.
