Just wanted to have a moan... have checked my seller dashboard on my private ebay account for the first time in ages and have got 4.63 for P+P
I always charge less than the stamp price, for example if the postage is £1.10 I will charge £1.00 I never charge for packing and always make sure the items are packed well.
I don't send things recorded.
What on earth do people expect  Do they actually look at how much it costs to send things? I am glad I always do free P+P on my business account and just adjust my item price accordingly, may have to do that on my private account now...
Oh, edited to add - If I have weighed something wrong and then get to the post office and it's cheaper then I always refund the buyer with a little message apologising, its only happened twice.

People are too used to Amazon free super saver delivery, etc on big books.
I know one shop that does free next day delivery if the order is over £10!
Its just psychology - one of my listings has free p&p, the other I charge 80p. Both go 2nd class parcel at £2.20! I just factor it in to the cost of the item.

This just proves that pandering to buyers (low postage prices, refunding postage (complete madness) and partial refunds) is a complete waste of time.0

I have come to the conclusion buyers actually do think free postage means they have not paid for any postage. Ebay are partially to blame they need to stop promoting it as free postage when it's clearly not.0

It annoys me that ebay even give buyers the chance to mark on P+P. They have agreed to pay the amount as it is clearly advertised in the listing, so why then mark down - especially if the stamp price is more than what is charged.
I have also noticed that in my business account I have 4.8 for dispatch time, and I ALWAYS dispatch same day if the item is paid for before 4.30pm. If it is later then it goes the next day.0 -

Some people are just plain nasty and mark down to get a kick - its the only excitement in their own pathetic lives.0 -
some buyers are numpties, others as mentioned above just seem to like the thrill of playing critic to issues beyond sellers control eg how fast the royal mail get their act together. only way to bring yr dsr up is to list loads with free p&p on a free lsiting day0

Recently, I had to laugh at a neutral for high p&p, to which the seller replied firstly that the excess was 53p (or similar)... and by the way, the complaining buyer was ripping off their own buyers on postal charges, at £5 a shot!
Sure enough, having looked at the buyer's feedback, there was a running theme theme of overpriced postage and charges for non-existent services, one buyer commenting that they paid for special delivery and received the item 2nd class!!!"The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing.

For those not in the know 4 Stars out of 5 sounds like a perfectly reasonable rating to give when you have been satisfied with something and feel that giving 5 stars means your expectations have been exceeded. Very flawed system....0

Don't forget, go check your expanded seller dashboard and make sure you don't have too many lows in there. For those not in the know 4 Stars out of 5 sounds like a perfectly reasonable rating to give when you have been satisfied with something and feel that giving 5 stars means your expectations have been exceeded. It's done on 'you' based on the average seller. If most sellers maintain 4.8 stars then anyone dropping too far below that is less than average, and that triggers all the nonsense from eBay about being below standard.
It's just that 'standard' is actually very very highI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Don't have any lows at all, I have only sold just over 100 items - have 100% feedback so I guess its just from a couple of people leaving 4 stars instead of 5. Just a bit miffed...0
