Well, thanks for all your advice - it's given me a lot of perspective on the whole mess. On credit check it seems all I've got against me is that I'm 3 months in arrears - which isn't great, but could be a lot worse. So, I've paid the balance and set up a direct debit for the rest of it.
I will now lodge a formal complaint with them and work the problem from the inside.0 -
