Talk Mobile

Since taking out a contract with Talk Mobile through Talktalk I Have felt that texts were coming through much slower - annoying since I rely on a rapid response when locum work is offered in competition.

Yesterday we tried an experiment, four phones with each major provider were sent a simultaineous text, the Talkmobile arrived a full 8 minutes after the others, am I unlucky or is this the price your pay for a second rate service.

  • TBH I haven't specifically checked this, having 2 talkmobile accounts now.

But remember, TalkMobile is only the CPW reselling a Voda service. The backbone provider is Voda and you may find that their signal strength is weaker in your area compared to other providers. It certainly is around my abode. Have you checked that the text is not residing in your outbox for a while awaiting a stronger signal?

As for calling TM a second rate service, I can't agree at this point. I first went with them a year past November. A low user account, paying a flat rate of £1 per month for a rolling 30 day contract, gives me 50 texts and 25 mins calls, of which I typically use only 25% of each.

Since Xmas had the wife on a second TM contract (350min/5000txt/500mb) and it's running smooth as silk.

At times I have exchanged a quickfire succession of texts that could only have happened if the transmission was near immediate at both ends.

Aside from that, I like the web presentation of my accounts, particularly the graphical presentation spanning 6 months. Got the 2 hooked into the same login so its then very easy on a simple pull-down menu.

The only gripe I and others have noticed, and its a bit marginal, is that calling 5888 to get an update on usage/remaining minutes is always a bit out of date. You can't rely on the figures given if,say, you are getting near your limit.

I'll watch this thread to see what others report back.
The bankers stole my pension (and everyone else's). It should have earned a lot of money, but they took their bonus pot first.
  • The problem is with texts SENT TO ME and can be anywhere in the country. In every other respect I agree with you, nice little phone, package that more than meets my needs at £5 pm,good billing system. If could just get my texts quickly I would be a very satisfied customer.
