I'd definitely not change. I prefer to have my 2 months off in Feb/march. As it happens, my professional subscription is suspended at the same time so I have £300 to save. This year it is going on a birthday trip to Lisbon in march.

I'm like many others here. I fool myself into thinking its 12 months at £131 when in fact its 10 so february and March is an additional £262 savings I either put against the mortgage or into the holiday pot. I'll be keeping mine as it is I think but I can see how it would be good for some people.

You are supposed to be an MSE! You have £30 to save for each of the first 10 month. That's about, what? ...£300.
Oh dear, oh dear, mumble, mumble ...

I phoned today and the chap promised to "action" it. Just like that!
Free the dunston one next time too.
  • We are with Croydon Council and moved houses within the same borough in November last year. They offered us the option to pay over 12 months then which, we didn't think was possible but, took full advantage of!!
  • I like paying over 10 months - feels like free money in Feb & March....I know it's not but it comes in handy for the Feb birthdays and MOT in March!

  • We have been spreading the payments over 12 months for the past 2 years in South Norfolk!

We have been doing it for at least eight or nine years in my city.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton
  • I find the 2 month 'holiday' quite useful for the extra cash to clear the Xmas credit card bills, though Jan/Feb would be better than Feb/March.
  • i have rung our local council and they say you cannot change from 10 to 12 payments, until after the new years bill has been received.

You then can ring them and say you want to change, they will then reissue the bill.

hope ive sent this correctly as new user....
  • just tried to do this with local council, and despite the fact that the existing ddr comes out from our joint account, and if it didn't get paid they'd chase me for the money (as we're both liable to pay the council tax bill as resident owners !) they are insisting on speaking to my husband to change from 10 payments to 12 !

When I asked how they would know it was my husband, they replied they would ask him his name and address !

Should I ring back with a deep voice ?

If you're going to do data protection, at least do it properly !
