T-Mobile, iPhone and Personal Hotspot

Hi all, I need some advise please. I'm currently waiting for my shiney new iPhone 5, but i've been reading up that t-mobile don't allow 'tethering' on their full Monty plan. Is tethering the thing that uses the personal hotspot device? I'm leaving 3 due to poor service, and i've always used my iphone personal hotspot to access the internet on my ipad when no WiFi is available. If I can't use it, is there a way around it? kinda annoyed, and might send the phone back if not...

Yes that is tethering.
A way round it would be to get an Ovivo data sim for the ipad and use the free data.
Depends how much data you use when you've tethered in the past ???It's not just about the money0 -

My Ipad is WiFi only
Not much to be honest, I nearly always have it attached to WiFi, so maybe 500mb, or less. Crap

Why are you annoyed? It's something you should have checked before signing up if it's that important.
I'm annoyed my car doesn't have air conditioning, but I didn't check before I bought it. Can I send it back?0 -
Because the sales advisor in the shop said that normally you can, but the companies offical line is that it's not permitted0

Ive got a full monty plan which you are not suppose to tether with, been tethering from day one, used about 8gb one month (tethering), but usual usage is about 3gb and not had any problems or extras charged, if its enabled on the phone (setting>personal hotspot) then im going to use it:beer:0

You were advised it was against company policy, what the adviser thinks is irrelelevent.
Iphoen cna be set by the netowk to not allow tethering, and if you can turn it on the network can tell easily. If you need to use tethering this is not the deal for you.0 -
One disadvantage of the iPhone is that tethering is clearly identifiable by the network. Tethering on the iPhone uses a different APN to normal phone usage (unless the phone is Jailbroken) and is separately itemised on a T-Mobile bill.0

Is tethering with a Samsung Galaxy S3 easily identifiable?
I've just ordered a full monty SIM and it arrives today. I took advantage of the £16 deal that was going on and it'd be a shame to not be able to share my connection via Bluetooth or Wifi.
Will I still be able to do this, even though T Mobile say you can't?0
