Thanks for your hugs all, much appreciated.

The day didnt get better unfortunately. Hubby left for the dentist at 11.45 this morning. 1pm he hadnt returned so i went to the dentist to see why he wasnt back.

He'd had a panic attack in the dentists chair apparently and was sitting in the waiting room with only half the dental work done and with strict instructions not to leave until he had stopped shaking and with instructions to call 999 if he got worse when he got home.

He's ok now. Wrapped in a blanket on the sofa by the fire.... he still doesnt feel like smiling yet though.

    Evening all!
Was right about the nursing home, the contract is being reviewed and 30 contracted beds will stop being NHS beds at the end of the financial year, probably FIL will be one of the affected residents I think, as he doesn't meet the criteria for NHS continuing care anymore due to him being immobile, in our opinions!
Apparently the NHS will continue to fund all the residents in the interim period, however the representatives were unable to tell me how long this will happen, so MIL in a bit of a tizzy about if she will have to find the money to pay for his care. I don't know what her finances and savings are like, but they do jointly own their house, so I have told her not to worry, if needs be and she needed to pay a chunk of his care the social work department can put a levy on the house, when she goes house will pass to DS and he can sell it and pay the levy- she wasn't amused at this prospect, so here's hoping we don't need to worry about it for a while. Knowing my luck, and not wanting to sound uncaring or cruel cos we generally have a great relationship, but she will go first and I will be left as her POA and executor to sort that and see to FIL too!
Anyway, as long as he is staying in his current nursing home, which we have been assured he will, I won't worry.
Got home late from there, so didn't feel like cooking so DD and I have just scoffed a huge Indian take-away, half left over and seams of my belly are bursting!!!!

Not really in a good mood today. I wrote to my old boss a few weeks ago ask if he would provide a reference for my uni application. His wife wrote me a reply to say he is poorly and very sorry. I have called the teacher I worked with to ask her but she's declined as very busy. I have one left... my english teacher from 1991-1996.

Its not looking good is it :(

Fuddle - have you thought of doing an access course? They are usually a year and funding is available. My DD is in the process of completing hers and it has given her a very good grounding (she already had A levels) and confidence as an adult learner. It has also given her an excellent reference which has enabled her to gain 4 out of 5 of her uni choices. I cant recommend them highly enough.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Thanks molly. If I fail this time that's what I plan to do in September. I've been doing a couple of OU psychology modules these past few years so was trying my luck
