    Morning all.

Bright and sunny here - shows up the dust horribly!

Plans for today are ironing, ironing, ironing broken only by a visit from my DIL2B and baby Mia at some point.
Have some sausages left from making sausage rolls on Monday, so will turn them into something for tea - possibly Toad in the Hole.

nmlc: commiserations. Colds are miserable and not usually given enough sympathy. Hope you feel better soon. My sovereign remedy is Lemsips and Sinex spray. Passes the time if nothing else.

Judi: Pull the duvet over your head and hibernate till things seem more cheerful. Hugs.

  • Good morning everyone just back from a large shop (well large for me I spent £34.20 taking my total this month to £43.00) but my freezer is jam packed full and my cupboards are almost bowing :):) So I have £17.00 left in my food purse and absolutely nothing to buy until the end of the month at least, apart from maybe some milk next week.I can probably get around that as well as I do have several litres of long life stuff if the weather turns bad that I can use
I was so pleased that for once I actually managed to get some decent meat at a reduced price in Sainsbobs.Lots of mince, diced casserole beef and even a piece of angus rump steak for a treat I have just worked out that I spent £19.08 on meat instead of £33.90 so I have saved £14.82 and filled my frezzer right up and can't get another sausage in there :):) For some reason Sainsbobs were reducing stuff at 8.00a.m. this morning so I bagged what I wanted and was jolly pleased to do so.
So NSDs for me for ages which is nice as I am quite happy to stay away from the shops and do more pleasant things :):)i.e. knit read, listen to the wireless go for walks when its warm enough in my local country park or even go for a swim as being over a certain age I get it for free, one advantage of being an old boiler :):)
Well the sun is shining, but it is a bit on the nippy side this morning, but at least its dry I had a text from my DGS Danny who is taking auditions in Newcastle and he said that he went with some work collegues to Akbars last night and had a superb curry there and really liked the place and the food, hopefully he will be home some time tomorrow and is going to pop and see me.
I have just sent off my renewal for the National Trust for this year, great value as I have four of my grandsons on my ticket so we get to go to some really nice places and it doesn't break the bank, especially when we take a picnic with us .The bulbs are sprouting like mad in my pots on the patio and its lovely as it means spring won't be far away.Right now I am just about to whip around my bedroom with a duster as you could write your name on the dresser :):).This afternoon I have History club and we are doing the history of the Bank of England which should be interesting.
Have a great day everyone and keep wrapped up warm as there is a chilly wind still blowing
    Cheers JackieO xxx

    Morning all!
WM whizzing away, cos the ironing pile needs filled up again!!!
Was going to make lamb rogan josh for tonight, but forgot to take the meat out yesterday, so dunno what it will be, need to find out if DD is in for dinner first. Volunteered my services to help DS's friends mum do a buffet for friends leaving party, she is just 16 and off to army college in a couple of weeks, bless her!
This afternoon have to go to the home with MIL for a meeting with NHS staff and BUPA, I suspect that the contract with the NHS is coming to an end and we may be looking at a potential move for FIL, or a funding application at the very least to let him stay there, I hope they are ready for a fight, for no other reason than their timing sucks!!!
Hugs to all, special hugs for JackieG and family, hope you're all ok xxx

    Morning Everyone,
Real hard frost earier, but gone now. I had a c**p night again. Was awake most of the night and DGD woke up at 6.15.
OH turned up at 9.00am though so that helped. I'd only just managed to get showered and dressed by then!:rotfl:

Left over steak and ale tonight. This time I will put potatoes on top like a hotpot.

Just saved myself £56.40 by paying for my BT line rental a year in advance:T

Hopefully downstairs toilet will be finished tomorrow.:T

  • Bedroom all buffed and polished and just settling down to make my meal/menu plan for the next 20 days.Once its tacked up in the kitchen its a doddle to follow and ensures that I won't go near the shops at all.I just realised I have three large onions and a bag of red onions to chop and freeze I think they will have to go into Dds freezer as there isn't an inch of space left in mine.
    onwards and upwards chums

  • Morning all,

Had a very very poorly nephew last night :( Has this bug which makes you feel sick and have really bad headaches, poor mite was crying because he was in so much pain - kids nurofen eased it enough for him to sleep but wasn't even touching it this morning - thankfully his mum has seen sense and is taking him to the docs this afternoon! All he wanted was Auntie Lindsay cuddles bless him :)

OS wise will try and tidy up house tonight as OH's kids will be coming over tomorrow (well maybe, both teenagers so you never know!). Am hoping he's put on the washing while I've been away but somehow I doubt it, and I bet I have washing up to do as well! Thinking I might treat myself to something nice for my tea tonight but have no idea what I fancy at the moment!

Hugs to all poorlies/whoever needs them :)

  • Just received a gorgeous bouquet of flowers from work which has cheered me up no end. With tiny little tulips and narcissus, they make me feel like it's Spring already.

Have decided to surprise DH by starting to make dinner as I feel up to it. Just hope the salmon I have just got out of the freezer thaws in time ......

    Hi all,
Nice day today in the NW,even got sunny spells-hope it stays that way as DS2 & DF went to the Lakes yesterday for a romantic break. He's just rung actually, to say he's got our car key in his pocket! Lucky we knew where the spare was when DH had to take DGD home last night :D

Thanks for the well wishes for Leo.The vet is sending some bloods off marked urgent,as he has lost quite a bit of weight and is not eating :(,he's always been so greedy too.

DH dropped me off at supermarket on his way to work, our fridge was a bit bare too,so will put it away now I've had my sandwich,& then have a good tidy round, house feels messy, but then again it always does when DGD has been:rotfl:

    Afternoon All

    Good News Taplady!

Busy day here, skip arrived at 8.10am! Electrician followed shortly after so we now have an outside light and working smoke alarms. Still waiting for the gravel to arrive for the big garden tidy up.

Surveyor here for the home report (we still have to have them in Scotland). I was told I could have it refreshed from the last time for £200 but when he arrived he said it would have to be a whole new report and I would have to pay £550 +vat! Managed to get him to £300 inc vat so feeling a little smug. He will probably condemn it now!

Fires have been lit, it's a bit chilly here, washing on the line, house hoovered through. Was going to meet friends for a coffee but they are going to come here now as the surveyor will be here for a while.

Feel like I have had a productive day off, DS2 coming over tonight to help with the garden over the weekend so looking forward to seeing him.

    Take care, it's Friday! XX
