O/S Daily Friday 8 February 2013

O/S Daily Friday 8th February 2013 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Still dark here but looks to be dry but very cold here this morning. (When DH opened the door to leave it gave the kitchen a real icy blast!)

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Have come down with the cold/sore throat bug that is doing the rounds - everyone else in the house has already had it/got it/getting over it - I thought I was going to be lucky enough to not get it but no such luck! Got up as not finding it very comfortable to breath whilst laying down although feel more comfortable this morning than yesterday - have started on large doses of vitamin c will see if that helps. DS1 came in from college and went to bed at 4.15pm - completely unheard of for him, he said his throat was really hurting him, he's had the blocked nose thing for past week and that seemed to be going - he did get up before teatime and then polished off a large plate of HM spag bol - and then didn't go to bed until 10pm saying he felt much better.

Although I don't feel that brilliant I was reasonably productive yesterday - did get a load done from the flylady list - think it was because I just took it steady and pottered along all day - I did go out first thing but was only out half an hour or so and then just stayed at home after that. As my DS1 says "slow and steady wins the race"!

Dinner last night was spag bol - made a big pot and have 2 portions that were LO in the freezer. Not sure about tonight but have the normal food shop to do this morning so will organise something then. Today I will be heading into town, the bank, get bday cards for niece and friends little girl, food shop and then home. Will continue with the washing, although I think there's only enough for 1 load possibly 2 - so was very productive at getting this done yesterday - will definitely get this finished today, everything that's washed so far is dry - so will get it all ironed and put away. Will change beds and then do some cooking/baking - if I don't get this done I'll do it tomorrow whilst DH is on his course. Will see how I get on and see if there's anything else on the flylady list that I can get done, made a start with this last week and although I didn't get much done have found this week much easier as some things had been done last week so weren't so bad and were quicker to clean this week IYSWIM! Think once it's clean and tidy it's easier to keep on top of it and having a list seems to really help me with getting it done.

Have a great Friday everyone x

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning ladies and gents :D

Broken sleep thanks to DS and several toilet trips. Both kids are being uber clingy last couple of weeks and requesting a presence when going upstairs etc. here's hoping its a short phase and all that.
Got some cleaning today and off for a mooch round Hobbycraft with my mum at some point.
Fast day today so probably soup for dinner or I have a little bit of left over spag Bol. Have to say H might like spag Bol with turkey mince but it lacks that meaty flavour. Why can't I have a H that eats a bit of beef now and then.

Hugs and spoons all round xxx

Dh tax refund has landed in the account today:j hurray will help us out. It's only a drop in the ocean really but every little helps.
Have just emailed school to try and sort out paying for ds3 trip to Alton Towers, they don't take cheques any more, you have to go in and top up your parent account with funds ah um, of course ds3 forgot to inform me or give me the letter. He's almost 17 and totally unorganised, my stomach turns over at the thought of him managing at Uni, thank goodness he has another year and a half of growing up to do.
Ds2 is still waiting to hear about the job, maybe today. He also has another interview lined up on Monday.
No meal to cook tonight as we are at my brothers for tea.
Normal shopping trip to Ald! Later. We've stuck to our budget carefully this week, onwards and upwards.

    Have a good day all J x

Morning all, busy day today.....meeting at my son's this morning about our planned trip to Cornwall with him. Then home for quick HM soup from freezer lunch then meeting for work this afternoon and as soon as I get back my old school friend is due to arrive for the weekend! Got loads of housework done this week and de-cluttering so feeling smug!
Had lunch out with my son yesterday and there was a minor incident, but one of the support staff and I contained it and got him outside before it developed into anything. 1 broken (empty) flower pot was the only casualty.
Dinner will be shepherds pie with a fruit crumble for pudding. Going to let visitor set the agenda for the weekend, so not quite sure what we'll be doing but 'i suspect it will involve quite a lot of coffee and cake.
Can't miss the Rugby (6 nations) so will record that to watch while visitor is in the bath or reading or whatever!
Have a good day all and stay warm.

    Morning all,

Just showing my face as i'm not in the best of moods right now (thanks to my Mother who has always done her best to screw my life up and continues to do so through a decision she made in 1980 without taking proper legal advice).

Dogs let me lie in this morning which is just as well as i was tossing and turning all night and hubby was like a soddin octopus. He must have been cold. He's got a dental appointment at 12 so tea will depend on what he can eat. I'll dose him on paracetamol before he goes as he doesnt 'do' pain.:D

    Jobs:

Stuff 'em. Cant be arsed with any of them.

Hope your all having a better day than me.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Lovely and bright here today so have put the washing machine on with lots of small items. Am sure I can manage to get them on the line but will leave bedding and towels until DH is here to help.

Had a very naughty takeaway last night but I did enjoy it and there was plenty left over for DH to take for lunch and some for me in the fridge.

DH is posting ebay parcels on his way home and getting a few bits of shopping. We have managed really well but the fridge is looking very bare so I hope to get out for a trip to Aldi at the weekend if I feel up to it.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep warm and safe and have a super day :)
