You could offer the hotle/marriot the cost of your parking that you forgot to pay, as a full and final settlement, and you should also inform them that you are being harrased by one of their agents who are demanding £60 ( if paid by within 14 days ) or £100 within 28 days.
you then shold tell them that the parking charge is only £2.00 which you have now paid, and that they can only charge a sum that is relative to the loss suffered by parking/trespassing.
you should then tell them( marriot) that this mater is now closed and you dont wish to receive any more threatening letters from their agents, as you consider this to be harrasment, anything other than an acknowledgement of this and an apology from the Hotel and their agents ( parking eye) together with a re- asurance that this wont happen again, will be taken to be harrasment and as a result action against the hotel may be taken.

People who allow these parasites to opperate on their land are no better than the PPCs.

    .

That last bit reads like a mirror image of solicitors/debt collectors' threats in their toothless letters that we laugh at. Smacks of an empty threat. You know it, I know it and so will the hotel.

Certainly could write/email & say that OP missed any reference to signs and will drop £2 in next time they visit the hotel, if that's ok with the hotel.

    Some good news.

I rung up the hotel and spoke to the duty manager. I told her about what happened and she agreed to write to ParkingEye to cancel my "parking charge notice".

I will ring up ParkingEye tomorrow to confirm the cancellation.

I will write again once I confirm the cancellation with them.

why would you waste your time/energy/paper when you can simply ignore it and NOTHING will happen as has already been pointed out here.

The point is that complaints to service providers like retailers and hotels will only increase the chances of these companies getting rid of the parking companies.
When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.

Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

If they do cancel it and remember it can just as easily be totally ignored.
call back the restaurant and tell them, thanks for canceling it, but I still wont be using a restaurant that puts fake parking tickets on customers cars.
    Be happy...;)

Ignoring is easy, however when i receive my next ticket i intend to complain bitterly to the store/establishment, armed witha few pepipoo flyers, one for the customer service desk person, one for the staff area, and one for public display on the comunity noticeboard.

Complain, and spread the word to as many people as possible - lets reduce that 65% of people who pay up without a question.

I had a car park owner advise me they had contacted PE to cancel a ticket and it had been. The junk mail still keeps arriving.

I'm at the point now where it may be time for a bit of sport with them.

My first contact will be to request a VAT invoice as it is a 'Parking Charge' and is therefore subject to VAT.

Oh, can we guess what happens next..... PE will either have never had the instruction to cancel, or else they will badger the hell out of you anyway. So is it really wise to contact them, identify yourself to them and engage with them..... rhetorical. Ignore the f*** out of them because you will only lose if you engage them in any kind of communication. And as with a restaurant that gives bad service, simply boycott the restaurant till you die or they go bump.
