Ryanair Hand Luggage

Hi,
I'm flying Ryanair this weekend from London to Spain for a short break. I have hand luggage, and it's dimensions are basically smaller in length, smaller in height, but exactly the same (20cm) in width. I've taken this bag before on easyjet, bmibaby, Jet2.com BA, Air France, KLM, Lufthansa and American Airlines
The thing is, I will only be half filling this case on the way out, but will need to rest of the space to bring things back for a friend in Spain, so I need this case.
I don't want to have to pay £50 if Ryanair find that it is 1mm oversized. Therefore I am planning to take a smaller bag inside this other bag. Do you think if it is oversized they will let me dump the bag at the gate, and only take the smaller bag? The hand luggage is a few years old and was very cheap, and I don't mind 'losing' it. If I lose it, I just won't be able to brings things back for my friend, but at least I'll have an excuse. Lol.
So basically, will Ryanair let me dump the larger bag at the gate, and only take the smaller bag?
Thanks

If it's 55x40x20 cm or less then you are ok - end of story.
You don't mention any concern over the weight of your baggage which is what I almost got caught out on at Malaga airport. The limit is 10kg and my case was 10.5kg.
If you plan to carry one case within another it sounds like an overweight case to me!
We now have a set of electronic baggage scales (about £4 from Home Bargains last year) which are accurate to half a kilo when weighing a 10kg bag. Money well spent as it's not that easy to weigh your case on the return journey.0 -
For obvious reasons airport staff are not keen on you dumping luggage. You do realise that doing so could cause a security alert?0

No..you are quite wrong.....if you "basically" dump it then that is alright, basically.cockaleekee wrote: »For obvious reasons airport staff are not keen on you dumping luggage. You do realise that doing so could cause a security alert?Political?....I dont do Political....well,not much!0 -
Thanks. Hopefully it should be OK. The other bag weights around 50g, so it won't be over 10KG.
Oh, and just for you antenna: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/basically?s=t
It means, '' in essence; in summary; put simply''0 -
Get a flight with BA and take what you want (within reason) there and back. Plus you can always use the loos free of charge! The mini coke and can of 3 pringles wont cost you 15 quid either!0
