Orange/Everything Everywhere broadband

Hi all, I am looking for an internet provider for my friend (I currently use sky) which is cheap and has little-no installation/connection charge.

So I found Everything Everywhere via uswitch/topcashback which is:

£14 line rental
£2.50 internet
"Exclusive for orange&tmobile customers" & "quote topcashback" over the phone to receive this offer.

Screenshot of the offer here: imgur.com/6pHyXhx.png (you can find it by going on topcashback & clicking the everything everywhere link).

So I phoned them and was told it was £19 a month opposed to £16.50 "because the offer on the website is wrong, and this is right". So if I were to pay their £19, after the £70 cashback (from topcashback for refering to that link) that would make it ~£13.17 a month. However, isn't this bad business practice or just complete lying? The price advertised is clearly £16.50 total and has been up for days.

I didn't go for the offer partly because the guy on the phone was an absolute tool who was giving the good old line "the offer on the website is wrong, here is the current offer" BS and also because I expect to pay the price advertised and not a penny more.

On a side note, I am 99% sure when researching the prices of it the night previously the line rental was £10 a month, making it in total £12.50 which is what made me phone them today, but never mind about that.

Then they wanted to charge £60 for installing it - Not sure about this part, since my friend has no broadband connection at the moment, not that that should make much difference?

Does anyone have any idea about what's going on here?

Thanks.

It might be best to avoid Orange/EE for now. They seem to running down the Orange brand in favour of a more upmarket EE, but it seems the whole thing is rather chaotic; there's a different story each time you phone.

Have a look at samknows.com, see which operator has a LLU at your exchange and work back from there.

    HTH.
  • Thanks for your reply, it makes sense that the left might not be speaking to the right hand during change overs.

Luckily I don't have any issues finding a provider except for cable, it's just finding a good deal with no installation. Talktalk seems the best bet, works out as £18.2 a month including £70 cashback over a 12 month contract, not bad i'd say.
