It all depends when they can fit your friend in for the face to face assessment with ATOS.

My ESA50 was sent in at the end of last year (Dec) three weeks before it was needed to be returned.

I have to appear before ATOS to undergo one of their (what they jokingly call) assessments next week.

Previously made the original ESA claim in 2009 and was eventually put in the Support Group for 3 years notwithstanding that the joke of an assessment at that time gave me 0 points!

I wouldn't worry about the timescale, it's the time lag getting to court to present your evidence that is the longest - currently running at a delay of 12 months so I have been told.
  • it is a worry though isnt it, they expect people to return it pronto but then just expect them to wait. i think its the waiting thats effecting them most.
form was sent before deadline of end dec so spose its not that long really. thanks for your help

Your friend can always call up ATOS and see if they've received the ESA50 as you've not heard anything.

I called them this morning as I hadn't heard anything from them (my post is a bit dodgy) and they told me it had been returned to the DWP as there was no need for them to see me. 0800 2888777 if she wants to call them. I'm guessing now my case is back in front of the decision maker, which DWP won't tell you about, unless you get a call back

my mate sent off esa50 last november 2012 and still not heard back yet. 3 months is a long time to wait but she did called ATOS and they had recieved her ESA50 last november but was told they passed onto DWP decision.

The deadline for my ESA50 was 21/12/12. I phoned Atos in early January and they told me they'd passed it to the DWP as no face to face assessment was needed. I received the letter from the decision maker last week. So about 5 weeks from submission of ESA50. I did send in LOADS of evidece though - six letters altogether (GP/Psychiatrist/CPN/OT etc). That would have speeded things up I think.

At least 18 months since my last assessment, TBH I was expecting a call back, but didn't get one. Might still be worthwhile giving them a call. At least then you know if they will be bringing you in for a medical or not.

My friend sent her esa50 back 2 weeks ago, i think its normal?or she should wait for few weekes then call them? if no reply from atos after few weeks maybe they sent her papers back to dwp?or they might still call her in for f2f even if it take weeks?
