Unfortunately this is pretty typical for high street shoes in my experience. I once wore a pair of New Look shoes to work 5 days a week, and although the walking involved was minimum, the soles came off after about a month. I don't think it's good enough, but I didn't bother to complain as I got them in the sale for £12.

As these were more expensive I think it's worth asking- they might offer you something. I'm not sure they'd be worth having repaired though, as it sounds like they are poor quality shoes and would break again in no time.

It's very annoying and I always pay more for better branded shoes now as they will at least last for years. I think my Dr Martens will probably last all my life!

What sort of boots are they?
Are they the sort of boots that someone would expect to wear to work every day? In which case I would say that your use has been reasonable and they haven't lasted reasonably and you should be able to take them back.
Or are they the sort of boots that would generally only be worn on a night out? In which case you've had a year's worth of wear out of them, just in two months, and it could be argued that they've lasted reasonably.
  • They are biker boots so deffinately day time every day wear rather than going out type! I'm going to give it a go, nothing ventured eh lol x

Make sure you report back with the outcome! I ordered a pair of boots (also from New Look) on 6th November. By the time I collected them from store it would've been the 15th November ish and the sole has also come away from them. Clearly New Look boots aren't excellent quality and suitable for wearing often!

Definitely bring them back, you're entitled to a full refund! They should last a reasonable length of time according to the Sale of Goods Act, and 2 months is not long enough at all imho.

Let us know how you get on.

I had something similar not too long ago and they let me exchange the boots, I did have the receipt though.

I am also convinced that I am wearing the same boots as you have right now! Must check them for splits!

I'd try and get a refund. I paid £40 for a pair of boots from Asda and they've lasted about 7 or 8 years. I've reheeled and soled a few times and they've now started leaking so will be retired to shoe heaven. I wouldn't accept 2 months of wear as being fit for purpose.

Sale of goods act...Not fit for purpose.....Boots should last a lot longer...
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.
  • Absolutely take them back, I bought some boots for work from Next in October. For about 40 quid, and apart from a scuff on one of the toes they're still going strong as I would expect them to!
